President 1st LT going out and bagging a trap in the right seat of an S-3 Viking onboard the Lincoln could potentially be a real gift. There has not been this much discussion of the AWOL issue in many media circles since the Globe article came out. As the AWOL meme travels through the internet, more and more people outside blogtopia begin to see the story for what it is: more half-truths from an administration that goes with the "big lie" philosophy as their most-treasured guiding principle. Is it enough to cause grievous harm to the 1600 Crew? No, but I believe it certainly pushes the skepticism meter further over to the 100% mark for journalists and others who might never have otherwise had reason to re-think this issue.
I read somewhere today that the whole landing on the Lincoln thing might give John Kerry (should he be the nominee) an opening to ask for full disclosure of deserter-boy's service record, all of it. More people now might pay attention to omissions, where two weeks ago they might have shrugged it off and accepted the explanations of the prevARIcator. This whole thing might have been an unintentional gift, it just did not seem so at the time.
