Sullivan: I despair. For me, it revealed that the primary motivation of the far Left is hatred of the United States. And the soft Left is too cowardly in many instances to expose and oppose this.
And this from a "man" whose party seeks to honor and deify the patriotism of the jackbooted minions of Tom Delay, Bill Frist and Karl Rove.
I hardly think cowardice is the issue here; it's the disgust with extremists of any stripe, which certainly seems to include one Andrew Sullivan.
Now I know why Andy hates America, because when he looks out the window, at the end of the day, he does not see a country filled with right-thinking Andrew Sullivans.

You know, I keep hearing from people like Sullivan that the left hates America. If that's so, what's their program? I never got the memo. Is the plan to dismantle hydro-electric generating stations? Rip up the Interstate Highway System? Poison the water supply? Teach children that 1 + 1 = 3?
It's absurd to posit - as Sullivan does - a bunch of Leftists that hate America, yet don't do anything except object to Bush's policies. What is that, armchair-hate-America? Can't bother to get up off the sofa?
Conservatives who claim there is this relatively large group (the Left) that hates America - should produce evidence that there's a real program out there with goals, operatives, money, etc.
Sully: a man whose chosen religion feels he should be either excommunicated (or at best he will rot in hell); a man whose chosen political party feels he should be ostracized if not killed; a man whose chosen a sexual preference where most of the others who have chosen that preference regard him as a pariah...
OF COURSE Sullivan sees bogeymen everywhere. He just isn't looking in the mirror...
