Huh??

Either this is the most back-handed of compliments or Porter Goss is on crack. It was my understanding that the CIA estimates and intelligence showed that Bad, Bad Saddam had no WMD's and had had none for a while. So what's this fool talking about?

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said Tuesday that resigned U.S. weapons inspector David Kay is doing the nation's intelligence system a favor with his harsh criticism of the CIA's flawed prewar estimates on Iraq's weapons capabilities.
Nothing like maintainng that spin to the bitter end, is there? Oh, I forgot, Goss is one of the Delay-1600 Crew hack-minions out to make sure that their story is the only story told.

House Intelligence is now and oxymoron too, how sad.

Note: some bad HTML on my part made this entry incomplete. It's now posted the way I wrote it. Bad me. Sorry.

Comments:

Goss's comment is just the windup for a major league curve ball.

After all, if the Intelligence Community didn't screw up the assessments and the advice, that would mean they told the Fascist Warmonhgers that there was no justification for the invasion and mugging of a third rate country, right?

And we know the "adults" who are in charge now never make a mistake. It's always some peasant's fault, right?

The intelligence community never tries to prove a negative. No analyst would ever flat tell you that country X has no capability for Y.

The statement would be: there is no verified evidence that New York City has unicorns. There are rumors and unsupported single source reports that might be seen as indicating the possibility of the existence of some limited movement towards unicorns, but pending independent confirmation of those reports, our judgement is currently that there probably are no unicorns in New York City.

I used to write this stuff.

Now if somebody was to tell me that David KAy had just been sitting around over there in Iraq drinking mint julips in one of Saddam's palaces waiting for the correct timing to expound this garbage.I wouldn't be suprised. In my opinon his whole act was a setup. Just what was his itinery, how much did he spend, and where and how hard did he actually look? Isn't the GAO interested in his reciepts? Or did they get backbilled to the Office of Special Plans.
I never would have guessed I'd be sympathatic to all those nasty liberals in the CIA !

Quoth Lurch: "Goss's comment is just the windup for a major league curve ball."

Anyone want to start a pool on how long it is before they really do blame The Clenis™?

Its all about the Push-back(TM)! The Plame case is headed toward a grand jury (seems to me that this criminal act was also part of a push-back strategy to discredit both intel analysts and a diplomat that questioned claims....). To limit the damage from a criminal probe, now is the time to accuse the IC of ANOTHER colossal failure, to wit: they said Iraq had'em when they didn't have'em. If they can be so wrong about that, then all those anonymous IC commentators couldn't possibly be right about the Plame crime, right? Plus, as a side benfit, the Clenis didn't catch the decpetion and we did!

Ok..../tinfoil hat OFF

Does papa still have enough loyalists inserted to leverage Tenet? Did the CIA give its patriot act stuff over, and the Bush league is killing loose ends or covering them up?
Have the feeling Tenet has enough conversations and statements and hard evidence to tie them together. Especially the pre 9-11 money trails of wall street and Carysle...we'll see.
Wonderful example of assessment spin. Experts at this time have yet to confirm honest statements by Bush, but to conclude he is not capable of such is something which is yet to be proven conclusively if the source assessment of current media is to be considered for evaluation.
