Got that Degree via Mail Order Andrew? Creative Writing: Some Research Required.

Sullivan says about the "Deserter Charge; not much there". Sort of the point Andrew me laddie, an Empty Flight Suit in Houston constitutes "Not Much There".

Jo,
None are so blind as those who will not see.

I don't see how you can interpret the report by his commander that there was no performance report because Bush wasn't there, as anything other than awol.

Non-veterans don't get it. I pulled two days of extra duty, lost a day of leave, and lost my off-base pass for a month because I reported back 15 minutes late from leave. I was at my assigned station at the assigned time, but I signed in at 0015 hours.

I was late because I had to take a bus back after my car self-destructed. I had bills and paper work documenting what had happened, but the Air Force did not care.

Did you see what George McGovern (whom people forget commanded many dangerous bombing missions in the European theater, with the medals to prove it) had to say?

“Maybe there’s some kinder word than deserter. But in my book that’s not too far from the truth.”

"degrees from yale and harvard....not much there."

not so difficult to get into yale and harvard when your last name is Bush.

don't read too much into 60s and 70s entry into those schools with the family connections making it happen.

What should be George W's "just des-erts"? How about exile to the des-erts of Crawford, Texas.

Jo, I don't know how much credit you deserve, but a bunch of blog coverage of this story cites your name and links back to here. I am thinking the revival of the aWol story in the major media has your fishprints all over it.

Of course they are trying to spin it back on the Dems, but there is only one problem - we have the documents:
http://users.cis.net/coldfeet/document.htm

Including my favorite, the smoking gun that shows that Bush voluntarily removed himself from the only military duty he had ever trained for - hmm, protecting the homeland from hostile airplanes (oddly familiar that) with the 111th Interceptor Wing.

If it had been September 11, 1972 and four planes were heading for NY & DC, 1st Lt Bush would not have been able to get in a fighter jet. Because he refused to pee in a cup.
