NASCAR Dads

As Fearless Leader tries to connect with that hot new demographic of NASCAR dads is it worth pointing out that most of them probably (1) hold themselved accountable for their actions, because that's the way they are, and they expect that of others; (2) want to know that they are giving their trust to a person who knows how to keep their word. Even when life is just handing out lemons ... they know the formula for Lemonade; (3) they may roar in approval at a track, but they really just want to know that their jobs, families and lives are secure, and not totally lived at the whim of a bunch of rich guys who could care less about them.

On the record to date, I'd say that the first two points are starting to make their way into the collective ND consciousness, and point three is just at the visible edge. Given the track record of the republicans, it's not going to take much of an economic change to push this over the edge. After all, didn't Fearless Leader just agree that outsourcing our jobs to other countries was a good idea? How many ND's who are pushed to the unemployment line to line a fat-cats' pockets does it take to cost the 1600 Crew an election? None, I hope.

Go fast, turn LEFT!

some friends who were there said a lot of those nascar moms and dads just rolled their eyes. They're starting to see these Bush appearances for the cynical farce they are, just another photo-op where Bush-Rove pretend to be just one of the regular folks.
and many were a little pissed because Ben Afleck(spelling?) was going to do the opening and stepped aside for the pretend commander and chief.

The J-Lo 500 would have been a ratings boost, I boycotted their ass for the CHimp-op it was...
Here in the mid-south it's a big deal, every tire sotre and car dealership maintenance crew and each of the steel factories you see Earnhardt and Gordon and Wallace stickers, replica cars, jackets, etc.al ...
Richard Petty, Harry Gant, Bill Elliot were the ones I remember seeing/cheering on TV... and Marty Robbins in Nashville as a kid when I attended one in the low-dollar days...

Ninety-nine percent of the NASCAR folks see the clown for what he is... a used car salesman will shake your hand, smile, and bugger you... someone figure out the cost of secret service, entourage travel expenses and thewy'll think twice about cheering the fool... maybe they'll call it the Bagdhad 500 next year.

And where did Bush go after sucking up to the Daytona 500 crowd? To a restaurant that NASCAR Dads frequent:

"After mixing with the masses at the Daytona 500 stock-car race, the president and his wife settled in at Tampa's exclusive Bern's Steak House with local political allies.

The restaurant's dinner menu boasts $60.68 porterhouse steaks, golden Iranian caviar for $92 a serving, and 150- to 200-year-old bottles of wine including an 1851 Gruaud Larose for $10,000."

The Daytona 500 is a race, the Bagdhad 500 is an honor roll, whose numbers of casualties incerease every day.
War time president, who has taken more days off, done more fundraising re-election stops, and is spending our money to travel and sport whilst our soldiers are deplyoed in hostile stations.
