Amending the Constitution

Well they couldn't get the ERA through in an era when there were more female than male voters, if I remember correctly. My guess is that there will be considerable opposition to this little bit of insane tinkering with a document that has served this country well for 200+ years. President On-his-knees-to-Gary Bauer has now covered his bases with the christo-fascists and can resume genuflecting to his one true god...corporate special interests and interest groups that own him lock, stock and barrel.

What was it that he called Gore, a "Pander Bear"? Well, he's the Pander-Potamus, not as cute, but a helluva lot more descriptive.

Whatever happened to the flag burning issue? It seems every time a bush is running for re-election they come up with shit like this. Then, of course, they forget all about it.

I am flat against messing around with the Constitution.

The reason for recess appointments no longer exists, but I don't want an amendment to stop them for the same reason I don't want to cut into a support wall in a house, the potential for damage is too great.

The language of this amendment bans not only gay marriages, but civil unions, and domestic partnerships.

I don't want to see any form of bigotry enshrined in the Constitution. It's a state issue, let the states deal with it.

Oh, it's worse than destroying civil unions, as if that isn't bad enough.

Read that FMA closely. While it "defines" marriage as between a man and a woman, it also means that if a state doesn't want a couple to marry (i.e, an 'unmarried couple' as mentioned at the tail end of the FMA), then there's nothing in state or federal law or constitutions that can force them.

Heeeellllllooooo anti-miscegnation laws!

If you're married in CA and move to MS (dumb move, yes), MS doesn't have to consider you married for whatever pinheaded bigoted reason they feel like, and the courts are blocked from giving MS a richly deserved dope-slap. MS doesn't like your religion? Too bad! Wrong color skin? Tough shit! Gender 'issues'? Don't make me laugh.

The FMA carves out 'marriage' as something that is no longer covered by the 14th amendment. And, arguably, the 1st as well.

At least amending the Constitution is legal as per the Constitution. Unlike the actions of the SF Mayor and the "Rewrite the Constitution" Liberal Judges!

Bigots, are defined by Webster as "intolerant adherent of a religious creed or of any party or opinion"

Hum, let us look at that...

...Yes, you could say that the “Bigots” are those who are intolerant of our laws, traditions and culture being torn apart by homosexual and Liberal opinions…. When they disregard our laws, the voice of the people and the process of the Democratic Republic….

…But then again if you violate the law that would make you “a criminal.” (If you don’t believe me …see Webster again) If you aid in a crime, or knowingly turn a blind eye…. You are also a criminal.

So when our President addresses the crime…. He is doing his civil duty!

I do believe that it is possible and even likely that most homosexuals were “born” that way, defects happen. I also believe that child molesters are genetic defects. Not their fault either…but when one shows up on my doorstep and says he has a right to molest my child I don’t have to let him!

So I guess that covers 1/3 of the definition that us Conservatives are guilty of…. The other 2/3 of the definitions must then be given to liberals… “Religious creed or of any party.”
Liberals bash, berate and demean anything to do with religious “Christen Values.” (Maybe this is why they don’t like the rule of law)
And Republicans have always tried to appease the Democrats and even helped with them with parts of their agenda in the hope that the “turn about is fair play” would apply. But, just like the bully on the playground, giving a little end up in taking more. Anything the Republicans do is hated by the Dems and this would seem to cover the last portion of Webster’s intolerance of any party.

Sorry if this reply rambled a little but I am tired having just did a ten-hour shift “babysitting” 200 criminals at my job at the county jail.

No liberal supports the molesting of children. Its faulty logic and just plain ridiculous to equate allowing consenting adults to lead private lives without government intrusion to be the same as committing a crime against a minor. Children, especially beginning in the 20th century under Progressive liberal reforms have enjoyed special protections under the law. There are no liberals that have suggested that those laws or protections be revoked.
(Note: statistically and sadly, most sexual and violet crimes against children are committed by their family or a family friend).
Conservatives are always making these apples to oranges comparisons. There's an obvious difference here.
Our "laws" from day one were meant to protect those that hold a minority view, religion, ehtnicity, or national origin. All
of us, labels aside hold a minority view on something or possess a minority characteristic. It thus behoves us all to seek balance and justice in our laws and culture.
Look at the problems the BushReich is having in Iraq; they're fighting the Shitites over their intent to have majority rule. Ironically our representatives want to install an American style democracy where minority religions and ethnicities are not subjected to the tyranny of the majority.
If a child molester ever comes to my door making overtrues toward my children, I will shoot them with the 9mm for which I have a permit.

So two consenting adults and the minister who allows them to wed will go jail, and we let out a pederast, a dopefiend repeat violent offender, and a rapist/abductor instead... fair trade for sure.Maybe we can let 3 copkillers go to jail consenting adults instead. If it is illegal will they jail ministers?

And if two men with aids marry, it certainly is better than them going apart. Seems to be a safer containment policy at work here.
How about safe sex programs to go with the marriage?
And the marriage tax, most of the gay marriages would gladly pay it, as further proof they are law abiding taxpayers.

From the ones shown on television, almost all of them look to be older relationships, people who could already be common law marriages.

And Ben Franklin attended how many orgies as an ambassador? This nation was built on the right to live in secular fashion as well. Our ancestors remeber the horror of religous wars between protestant factions or vs. catholic sects.

Christ spoke against what in his days? Religous leaders and the ruling welathy.
He even forgave soldiers under bad orders who killed him. Christ saved his harshest judgement for those who claimed to have that authority over fellow men.

The only law he said there should be is love, and no law against that.
