"Red" America?

About fifty years ago didn't "Red" America mean something totally different? Or maybe with the PATRIOT Act, it really doesn't. How Tail-Gunner Joe. Really, now.

Having spent some time living in Texas I can assure you they are not required to think.

That state really IS like another planet.

Wasn't the conservative cliche 50 years ago "Better dead than red"? For conservatives now there seems to be a reversal: "Better red than dead." Alas, conservatives do not believe in a colorblind America. In Texas in particular, justice DeLay-ed is the conservative mantra. Perhaps all those on Texas' crowded death row should become Republicans.

As long as their own little bubble isn't burst by things like choking pollution, massive layoffs, or higher taxes - they're like a bunch of ignoramuses on "Ignoramuses Get In Free Day".

I wonder how many of their children are serving in the armed forces?

Man. I read the entire article and felt like I had just gotten through watching an old black and white rerun of Ozzie and Harriet or Leave it to Beaver.

What I found spooky was this very early in the article:

"You find communities like this all over the place," DeLay says of Sugar Land. "This is what the future is about."

The Bugman from Sugarland really wants to take us back to the time of McCarthyism, segregation, barefoot and pregnant women being dutifully submissive WASP husband and to hell with anyone else.

The bastards are crazy....

Neocons , Goebbels McCarthy revistited.

Tom Rove's mom blowing her brains out over hubby leaving her would make a great ink-dot analysis test from the resulting scatter.... "I seeeeee dead people" or "I see WMD", something like that.
