Mega Porno Associates of America

Oops, that would be the other MPAA ... are they afraid of something or is it just perhaps...

The Truth.

Seems that they want to give Farenheit 9/11 an "R" rating for it's "graphic violence" or some such.

The MPAA, which represents major studios and administers its classification system, gave the film an R rating due to "violent and disturbing images and for language," a spokesman for the Washington-based organization said on Monday.
Actual war, as opposed to what Hollywood would portray, is pornography; to give some of the things that are produced for mass-consumption a "PG-13" rating, and to give "Farenheit" the same rating as "Private Ryan", when it's factually-based is, well, wrong.

After all, what's the big secret? That war is just peachy keen? Or that the MPAA is in the 1600 Crew's hip pocket ... hey, if Disney couldn't suppress it, maybe someone else can.

Next up: Old enough to die, but not old enough to drink. Heard that one before?

Comments:

Perhaps the "R" rating here would stand for "Republican". But no matter, even with the R rating, there will be no restrictions upon voters. Granted, if it were PG-13, some early teenagers viewing it might pass the message on to their parents. But older teenagers can view it and be prepped for when they can vote. We need more of Moore. If Republicans ignore Fahrenheit, it's because they can't stand the heat in Bush Jr.'s kitchen; let's get Bush Jr. out of the kitchen this November - this time we won't mind if he is AWOL.

I can't wait to see this film. Saw my first commercial for it last night and it was a really good commercial, very slick, lots of images of Bush. I'm gonna head to the theater and get me a big ol' bag o' popcorn and a slurpy and just hunker down and glue my attention to that screen.

Do you think it'll be a good date film?

I'm also going to bully my best friend, who is on the fence about Bush, I think, to take his wife and his oldest son and his son's girlfriend to it. The boy is almost twenty and she's the same age, so they can vote.

Old enough to die, but not old enough to drink.

Interesting. . . the Wehrmacht in WWII refused to allow under 18 conscripts from Germany to consume alcohol and frequent the military brothels provided for the relief of soldiers. This was done to prevent corrupting their morals. But, killing and being killed was OK.

I've been teaching an "Ethics for Technicians and Engineers" course at the local community college for the past several years. One of the required texts is William Gibson's "Neuromancer" which postulates a bleak future world in which corporations and media dominate society in a way that the Soviet Union and Communist China would envy.

We are beginning to see the post-Orwellian vision of Gibson in this novel come to fruition; quasi-governmental actions of the MPAA, RIAA, and their whores in our legislatures and Congress are doing their best to realize this vision. I'll take my older child to see this movie; she's starting to pay attention to political issues, and she's already decided that the term "Republican" is an epithet (now, when I do something the kids don't like, they call me a 'Republican' [GRIN]).

Snark alert:

Disclaimer: Um, I have an undergraduate degree magna cum laude in philosophy and religious studies. Is it obvious?

Bragging is unbecoming, smaug.

I have been using the expression "head up your Rumsfeld" and other variations, substituting the name "Rumsfeld" for the word "ass". I am trying to get it to catch on and become a part of the language so that, decades from now, it will be in common use and people will always think of Rumsfeld and ass together. Kind of like the word "lynch". I believe that would be a fitting tribute for a man so prideful and arrogant and, at the same time, unethical and inept. I think it would be a nice way to cement his legacy.

It's just amazing isn't it? Shouldn't a R rating be reserved for films where someone is putting their Thomas in someone's Ashcroft, munching on Bush, orkinky Rumsfelding with leather whips and Cheney's.

Get kids exposed with stuff like that, and they'll come down with a bad case of Scalia. The horror!

Isn't funny how fictional violence is acceptable enough to garner a PG-13 rating but actual violence gets slapped with an R?

it should be rated x. for if half moore's claims are true, then this administration is deeply pornographic.

"Do you think it'll be a good date film?"

Sure! Tell Mrs. Dean that nothing is more romantic than a Micheal Moore flick. Make sure to snuggle alot and hold hands during the movie tho, as that is the only romance that Mrs. Dean will get out of it.

Well, I don't know. Bowling for Columbine did not present many opportunities for nookie.

Now Roger & Me, well, the steamy love scenes in that one put us both in the mood, if you know what I mean. *wink wink nudge nudge* Say no more, say no more.

It will just make more kids wanna see it as the model of rebel. And once they see what is going on they'll be kind of peeved and question authority more so knowing its consequence applies to them and friends the same age.

BRING IT ON!
Memphis MSA is showing at 7 locations! Including Tupelo and Jonesboro!
