Howard's Ending?

So what? Somewhere upwards of three million or so voters that's what. Who would have thought that Howard Stern could play the role of kingmaker in 2004? I've been listening to Stern lately here in oHIo, where he's on a local station whose demographics I'll bet are skewed towards the 18-30 year-old singe males. Yeah. Could that be an audience that the DNC wants to reach. Think so... now they need to get off their collective asses (the DNC) and start getting serious with Howard. Now.

"I'm an independent. ... I always vote for the best guy,'' Stern told his audience this week, urging them -- as he has for months -- to vote for Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. Dismissing Bush as incompetent and a threat to the First Amendment, he said of the choices facing voters in November: "I think the stakes are higher than they've ever been before.''
...
"By re-engaging those voters, Howard Stern could literally be one of the two or three things that turns the election this year,'' said Simon Rosenberg, who heads the New Democrat Network, which commissioned the survey by Penn, the pollster to former President Bill Clinton. "You've got a guy whose Web site gets 8.5 million hits a day. And ... it's virtually all anti-Bush.
...
"It was proven, in two elections, that we made a difference in who got elected in two different states,'' Stern said this week. "I see the Rush Limbaughs of the world, and I see the Sean Hannitys: They preach to the converted. I believe our audience is open-minded.''

Asked if he might make the difference in the November election, Stern told reporters this week, "I'm certainly no kingmaker .... But I suggest to you: When you have millions and millions and millions (of listeners) ... when they vote as a block, as my listeners do -- you gotta figure it matters,'' he said.

All Howard wants is to do what he set out in life to do ... be an entertainer. No more, no less. The christo-fascist blowhards who control the FCC agenda via the 1600 Crew might very well have cost Fearless Leader the election by pissing Stern off. Delicious Irony... I wonder how Christie Whitman will view that? With some amusement I would imagine...

So, do we get Ambassador Atrios and Secretary of All Media Howard Stern? Sure. Why not. If you haven't heard Howard lately and he's in your market, check out the show. His anti-1600 Crew rants just pop in sort of randomly and are very, very good...man does he hate Fat Mikey and Preznit Corporate Puppet. Wow.

Comments:

I don't listen to Howard anymore, but I used to run across his show in other places I've lived. His stuff hasn't changed in years and you know it when you tune in.

To suddenly decide that Howard is obscene is from another plane of existence. Howard hasn't changed a bit in years, it is the people in control who have changed.

What I object to are all the copy-cat drive time shows that copy Howard's script which includes most Clear Channel stations. These guys don't have the experience to take things to the edge.

It's the same with winger radio: they are trying to be worse than Rush and are pushing Rush to more extremes.

I never could stand to listen to him until just recently. Now I tune in on the way home from work in the mornings just to hear the anti-Bush stuff.

He hated Gore because of tipper. Had my state polled close I would have voted for gore but went nader (one of nine in my county lol).

I would never advocate that now every vote is that important minus the 6.5 million stolen across the board at many states.

Darn it :( sorry about the double shot.

Oh, and Stern is so minimally talented he is the working class hero guy. The one with the long hair who couldn't sing or play guitar but has the rock and roll attitude and is at home in the studio where he doesn't have to earn it punching cards where his long hair and smoking habits would get in the way.

He ought to go a hunger strike like Ghandi , only he takes no cigarettes since that is basically his food. Imagine how mad at Bush he'd get then!

It's funny six stations added him on, he has become the media mogul. And he is a kindler gentler Cheney when it comes to language.

NYC boos Cheney to the Star Spangled Banner and it's Stern's turf...MUAHAHA! Proof there is a God and he did give rock and roll to us! :) Stern should do a live cast of the Bon Jovi NYC concert during the RNC convention. Not that JBJ didn't back Bush in the day but that's old smoke...

Howard is amusing, in small doses. I did read his book of a few years back, and one insight was that the simple way to get targeted by Howard is to be a hypocrite.

It's just amazing to me that Howard has held off this long before attacking ShrubCo.

Wow. To call Stern 'minimally talented' is rather hypocritcal, don't you think? After all, he's been on the radio for what.. about 20 years now? Myself having done a bit of morning radio (just a couple years, and I did enjoy it) you stick with that which works. Howard is great - in small doses, and that's a fact.

I don't even listen to radio anymore -because it sucks, just like teevee.

The WWF now has a conservative wrestler, John "Bradshaw" Layfield. He's a heel, and he gets booed by thousands of rasslin' fans each week.

First Stern, then the WWF -- I've said it before, but if we can get Dale Earnhardt Jr. on board this thing is in the bag.

Forget the nascar dads, or the stripper dads, its the WWF fans that are the real key to this election. (what a truly frightening thought)

Dale Jr. mentioned that fans should go see Farenheit 9-11. Think losing his pops reminds him some other heros died on 9-11 in the line of work or duty or Country since and deserve to to be heard from.
Anyways Howard is a guy who does the breakroom thing- dirty jokes and smokes and anyone can get where he's coming from

It is more a gift I did misquote from that aspect. Bush has Ozzy for a visit and Howard's vote, it is about time that rock n' roll realized who buttered that bread.

Move over for the boss to step up on RNC week...

Bryan: your idea is great!

Personally I'd like to see Bill Clinton appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Followed by another dem after Scalia has a massive coronary upon hearing the news.
