Oh. Obama!!!

Damn.

Are we seeing a future president here? Was that not a kick-ass speech?

I tuned in to see one of the best speeches of the convention so far and to hear one of the most mindless pieces of punditry (paraphrasing...) BoBo Brooks on PBS -- "Why he was like Tiger Woods" or words to that effect.

BoBo Brooks...what an asshat.

Jo,
Are you dyslexic? That's "Boob" not "BoBo" Brooks. When Brooks smiles, I imagine him gnawing on an acorn.

It was a kick-ass speech. And, incredibly, the Columbus Dispatch "forgot" to mention this morning that it happened, in between their sneering at Kennedy and snickering at Theresa Heinz Kerry. Interesting.

Obama was Kick-ass for damned sure! Second best speech, after President Clinton's. Forget the 'so-called main-stream mouthpieces'; they get paid to support the idiots at 1600 ave, nothing more, so I no longer expect them to report anything resembling the truth minus slant. For instance, much of the CNN coverage of the Democratic Convention has been done with the aid of Republican talking-heads assisting the CNN anchors. I won't type the words I have to describe what I think of that type of repugnant, truth-bending excuse for journalism.

Balzar:

Um, No. Clinton's speech, while masterful, was basically that of a self-satisfied little man who still has a big chip on his shoulder. Like Clinton, the message was very NOW, very of this particular moment.

Obama's speech was, to be sure, vaguely reminicsent of Clinton, but at his finest hour (when he has "that vision thing" working); it resonated more of Dr. King (without the religious overlay), maybe even of the John F. Kennedy kind of inspiring variety... if any of us could have heard Lincoln, I'm sure its in that league...

No-- Clinton gave a great speech for the moment. Obama simply gave an unbelievable speech-- a speech for the ages.

If that speech is truly what he is about, he may be the most formidable politician of our time. Forget "Black" or "White" or any other divisive little adjectives-- Obama would.
