Kerry hits a homer, Sully fouls out

I missed much of the Kerry speech, we had network problem that took me away to the office, so I have been catching up via transcripts and blogs...then it struck me, what does the Duchess have to say... that recent No More Bush convert, which I guess is different from him supporting Kerry (can he vote?).

This made me laugh...

... The first and most obvious thing to say about Kerry's speech was that it was far too long. ...
This coming from a guy who has more posts and has written more words in every media available to him in opposition to the FMA than I care to count. Even his loyal subscribers are telling him to STFU about it already. Shorter Duchess on the FMA?
FMA Bad
And then Andrew looked in the mirror on the medicine cabinet and described the guy he saw there:
To me at least, he is a deeply unlikable guy: arrogant, dull, pompous, mannered, self-righteous.
A Pulitzer-winning autobiography ... if they gave Pulitzers for such things.

Comments:

Of course, Bush would be right to criticize this excuse for a man sthat the Democrats put up as their nominee. He is physically unattractive, his war hero exploits probably mean he has been shell-shocked from battle and unable to lead, and his long senate vote record proves that he has deliberated on issues, rather than decisively jumping to conclusions--especially wrong ones. And he might take away our precious wars and tax cuts.

Sontag Award nominee: Why does blogger Joe Phish keep calling me by a female descriptive? Is that supposed to make me angry? As if its possible to offend a queer, Cathoic conservative-- I'm despised everywhere I want to be!

There was never any doubt in my mind about who to support. Coward vs Hero. Bully vs Compassionate Human Being. Self-centered heartless bozo vs Thinker.

But if there were ever a doubt, Sully's choice would immediately prove to me the wisdom of supporting Kerry.

Too long? I am normally the most impatient of people. Long speeches leave me cold. But if the speaker does a good job, I can listen patiently. I found myself listening patiently to Kerry. He went 46 minutes, which is interminable to me since I am not a big talker and not a patient listener. Yet I was engaged and did not feel it was getting on too long with Kerry until about 44 minutes into it. And he finished right when I was starting to wonder what was on TV next. It was perfect. It was both red meat and a reachout and it worked both aspects of that equally well.
