Was the FBI similarly involved during the Democratice Convention or is the Bush Jr. Administration trying to protect the Republican Convention?

Secret Service and Boston's finest controlled the Dem. convention (aren't u from Brookline, MASS.?)
Dems were much more laid back: a friend of mine (albeit one running for Congress) just talked his way into Fleet Center, without advance credentials-- and on the last day, was talking OTHER people in...
That sort of thing will just not happen at the GOP-Con. NYC will be under a lockdown controlled by a multi-agency task force-- NYPD, State Police, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, NSA, MI-6, Mossad, Executive Outcomes...
Contrary to people who feel that police with bad-ass rifles and machine-guns makes them feel safer, the site of it here in downtown Manhattan kind of creeps me out.
