Dissent Suppression, Inc.

Shades of Tricky Dick. Looks like the GOopers want no untoward, scruffy-looking commie dissenters in New York.

Federal agents and city police are keeping tabs on people they say might try to cause trouble at the Republican National Convention, questioning activists, making unannounced visits and monitoring Web sites and meetings.
...
“We’re not engaging in surveillance of groups or individuals without legal predication,” said Jim Margolin, spokesman for the New York office of the FBI.
"Without legal predication"? WTF does that mean? I guess that if you're going to New York City, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair...

Deja Vu all over again.

Welcome to my town.

I suspect most of the trouble-makers will actually be police and FBI plants.

Bush is dying: let's not help him out with this protest.

Just my opinion.

Was the FBI similarly involved during the Democratice Convention or is the Bush Jr. Administration trying to protect the Republican Convention?

Secret Service and Boston's finest controlled the Dem. convention (aren't u from Brookline, MASS.?)

Dems were much more laid back: a friend of mine (albeit one running for Congress) just talked his way into Fleet Center, without advance credentials-- and on the last day, was talking OTHER people in...

That sort of thing will just not happen at the GOP-Con. NYC will be under a lockdown controlled by a multi-agency task force-- NYPD, State Police, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, NSA, MI-6, Mossad, Executive Outcomes...

Contrary to people who feel that police with bad-ass rifles and machine-guns makes them feel safer, the site of it here in downtown Manhattan kind of creeps me out.

I think a violent protest would be counter productive, I wish they'd just call off the protests.

I would still like to see 1,000 people every day with ponchos and hoods just quietly standing on boxes on every corner like the Abu Ghraib guy...

NYSE's police state. A kinder gentler fascism
