Gasbag Patrol

When you have one flatulent gasbag "fisking" another one, isn't that sort of like Saddam Hussein teaching civics? Sullivan and Lileks. What pair.

And no, his endorsing Kerry does not make him any less of a gasbag, it just provides him cover for his unique Royal-Pain-in-The-Ass nitpicking of everything President Kerry does or doesn't do to make him happy beginning on November 3rd when Kerry wins.

Exactly.

He knows that the only way to even gain the chance to be considered is to concede that he initally supports John Kerry.

Once he uses that at the door to get in he resumes Kerry-bashing. Of course we do not want Club Kerry to open up in the press, we want them to be tough on Kerry, because John is used to making a winning case and he will do so daily as POTUS.

Kerry has valid response to criticism, he examines his point in light of any new information and moves forward with points that build support.

Bush has yet to admit a single mistake, aside from some of his appointments. He did not have the balls to mention any of those by name. Techincally, Clarke was a holdover and not an appointment. If anything he could have regretted demoting the terror Czar until after 9-11, and then fighting Homeland security before making partisan appointments.

Bet Bush does not regret the judge appointments by decree, bet the Judge who backed the right of crossburners to intimidate an interracial couple is probably going to let people do the same at polls to challenge votes. For as little as the same reasons...

If such is done it can be honor Billy Rehnquist who is nearly on his deathbed eaten up with the hatred he once espoused to minority voters when he was a Goldwater push polling troll.

Sullivan issues an 11th-hour endorsement of Kerry, when not a damn thing has changed in the last five months so that he could have done the same thing long ago.

His endorsement was delayed in order to -- very Bushlike -- placate both sides of the fence for as long as possible.

I suspect he sees the writing on the wall -- that Bush will lose this election -- and it's time, true to his usual opportunism, to get right with the new gods.

Yup, Priapus, that's it exactly. And many of us have seen that one coming for a looong time.

It's not that Sullivan feels Bush will lose, btw, although he's obviously, pathetically hedging his bets; it's that he secretly hopes, deliriously so, that Bush will WIN--and therefore he can put himself on the side of the 'underdog', (ie, "I SUPPORTED KERRY!") which has always been one of Sullivan's lame techniques in order to build his own credibility.

Sullivan has been trying to re-paint himself as a "classic liberal" for about a year now, but like everything he does, it's tainted by the same narcissism that makes all his posts utter ca-ca.

I haven't read Sullivan in more than a year, but I still log into Jo and Sullywatch, among others, because they are FAR more intelligent and entertaining to read. I love Jo's hysterical criticisms, and can learn everything I need to know about Silly Sully by coming here.

THREE MORE DAYS!
