...On the other hand, it will be equally forgotten that the vigor of government is essential to the security of liberty; that, in the contemplation of a sound and well-informed judgment, their interest can never be separated; and that a dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidden appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants.
I'm sure everyone remembers this:
"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier," Bush said, pausing and then joking, "just so long as I'm the dictator."
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.—"I want you to stand, raise your right hands," and recite "the Bush Pledge," said Florida state Sen. Ken Pruitt. The assembled mass of about 2,000 in this Treasure Coast town about an hour north of West Palm Beach dutifully rose, arms aloft, and repeated after Pruitt: "I care about freedom and liberty. I care about my family. I care about my country. Because I care, I promise to work hard to re-elect, re-elect George W. Bush as president of the United States."
What would Alexander Hamilton say? I'm not sure, but I'll bet that gets two thumbs up from Hitler, Himmler and Goebbels. Steve Gilliard even has the words to the Horst Wessel Lied on his site...and it's republican creepy.
Is it any wonder that so many republicans have endorsed Kerry, and the most notable Democrat to plant both lips in Close Codpiece Proximity is the Senator Palpatine look-alike, Zonked-out Zell?

Right now, I am very ashamed that Zell represents me in the Senate. I know how bad it looks to the rest of the country, that we Georgians have elected a man who is (not-so-slowly)going insane. And I mean insane in a literal sense. The really scary part is this: AFTER his speech at the RNC, there were many letters to the editor in my local paper supporting him and praising the speech he gave.
There is no moral bottom to this administration. None.

It is a very sad thing, but I despise the country of my birth.. I despise every republican that has ever taken a breath, every born again christian who has managed to shit on our constitution and worked so very hard on seeing this fascist son of a bitch along with his henchmen who have been raping and looting our treasury, government, and liberal ideals. These people would have been perfectly suited in Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy or their own little 3rd world dictatorship run by these very assholes... In the Nam, if I would have had a Zero like Herr Busch, He would have been medivac'd out if they could have found enough of him to medivac.... These assholes are lower than whale shit and that is on the bottom of the ocean!!! Fuck George Bush, Cabin Boy Colin,
Kindasleazy Rice, Laura the poster girl for Valium ad's and all the rest of these Fascist Dog Turds...
Who was it that said "I'd rather be right than be President"? Presumably it was a principled person. Bush Jr.'s unprincipled version is "I'd rather be President than be right".

I may be just old and crotchety, but I can't despise the country of my birth. I do, however, despise those who claim to represent it -- and those who have helped mislead honest people into putting them there.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident..." We knew the right words, once. We must reclaim them.
Despise the USA? Never. The point Jo makes is important, because Bush and his apostles are not representative of the USA. They are an abberation, a bad headache, and they will be gone soon. My USA, the land I love, is embodied in the Constitution (without that nasty business about slavery) and especially in the Bill of Rights. My country sent warriors to Europe to fight fascism, and US Marshalls into the south to get black people into a university. My country has a Supreme Court that said, "What you do in your bedroom is your own business" and a president who said, "We have to conserve on energy, and here are some tax breaks for those who do."
But Bush's America isn't America at all for anyone. It is Germany in the 1930s for those who would have been delighted to set fire to the Reichstag. It is an enemy of America, and it will soon, I hope, be gone.
I'm calling it 329 EVs for Kerry, 209 for Bush. Our long national nightmare may very well soon be over.
I fear we're in for a long drawn-out court battle in at least one state. But I'm confident we're ready and willing and able to win before, during, and most importantly (having learned from Florida 2000) after Nov. 2!
“You take an oath to a man whom you know follows the laws of providence, which he obeys independently of the influence of earthly powers, who leads the German people rightly, and who will guide Germany's fate. Through your oath you bind yourselves to a man who — that is our faith — was sent to us by higher powers. Do not seek Adolf Hitler with your mind. You will find him through he strength of your hearts!”

Bush transgressions are so strong he has bridged Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton's differences.
