No Wins All Losses

From Matt Taibbi (via Atrios) today...

We've got to repudiate, you know, the most strident and insulting anti-American voices out there sometimes on our party's left... We can't have our party identified by Michael Moore and Hollywood as our cultural values.

—Al From,
CEO, Democratic Leadership Council

You know, let's let Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival fawn all over Michael Moore. We ought to make it pretty clear that he sure doesn't speak for us when it comes to standing up for our country.

—Will Marshall, President of the Progressive Policy Institute, the think-tank of the DLC

Gee, what stellar advice from a couple of guys who know how to win BIG. Except of course, you know, without doing anything like actually WINNING.

It's getting to be time to rethink the DLC and their place in the scheme of things. I'm truly wondering if offering them anything more than one seat at the table in the next election cycle is worth much, and then only if they bring in something besides "consultants" who charge a fortune for losing.

Yeah, that Michael Moore, what a loser. Other than that Oscar and having the highest-grossing documentary ever, he don't know much, do he? Certainly he doesn't represent all Democrats, but he's someone that shouldn't be discounted, and certainly not to please the AWCB's who hate us anyhow.

Fahrenheit 9/11 is up for best picture of the year. This is about driving up Moore's negatives and intimidating members of the Academy so Moore won't win.

Shame on the DLC for lending themselves to this.

How come Moore is a liability for the Dems but Limbaugh, Coulter et al aren't liabilities for the GOP? Moore's usually factually correct and he doesn't do drugs.

This really makes you wonder who's side these guys are on. What we really needed was a few more Hollywoods like Michael Moore. Its time to shake up the Democratic Party and take it back from these losers. Like Howard Dean said, we need someone from the "Democratic wing" the party, not a bunch of shitbirds like Will Marshall. Where's the leadership in this council?

Has anyone read Moore's latest book "Will They Ever Trust Us Again?" I have not. I thoroughly enjoyed "Fahrenheit 9/11" but thought that he did play the pre-conflict "happy Iraqis" a bit heavily. No question that he did grab the intensity of combat in Iraq and the somewhat sleasy side of military recruiting very accurately.

As someone who grew up in a conservative family, attended conservative private schools, etcetera, I find it greatly ironic that MM is labeled as extreme or outrageous. The entire movie could have been made in the 70s and shown at republican meetings with thunderous applause - that is if the parties were switched.

His movie is excellent.

Less is Moore according to pundits. Because he outearned them...

An Eagle Scout, whose first movie about outsourcing was three decades ahead of any others. Yeah he's so outta touch with values.
