It's a shame that these brave Marines had to sit and listen to Preznit Turd Smoker talk. After all, they're men and women who understand doing their duty. The Turd Smoker understands how to spend their lives, talk macho and run away. And it's all documented. In later years some of them may even grimace at the irony of it all. An oath-breaker telling them about duty.
President Bush made an emotional visit on Tuesday to the Marine base that has been home to nearly a sixth of all the American troops killed in Iraq. Yet even as he praised the role of American forces that retook Falluja last month, Mr. Bush spoke cautiously about the ability of Iraqi forces to defend themselves.
...
"The enemies of freedom in Iraq have been wounded, but they're not yet defeated," he said at an athletic field here, describing how troops from the First Marine Expeditionary Force had gone "block by block, building by building" in taking Falluja back from insurgents. "We found blood-stained torture chambers where hostages had been executed. We found videos of beheadings and brutal terrorist attacks."
It was Mr. Bush's first visit with troops here since he flew onto the deck of the aircraft carrier Lincoln as it returned to San Diego 18 months ago, when he declared the end of active combat in Iraq under a sign reading "Mission Accomplished." White House officials now concede that they learned a hard lesson about the price of raising expectations about quick military victories.
"Enemies of Freedom"? If Commander Shit4Brains read the Pentagon report, he'd know that it's his policies, not our freedom tha they hate. There is hardly a man or woman in America who would not behave as the Iraqi "terrorists" are behaving today if say, the Chinese were assaulting Hoboken...or Spokane. By the Hairy Thunderer what a Moron.
Oh, and I wonder how the Marines feel about the whole "Mission Accomplished" thing.
What a shame that Preznit Yellow Stripe disgraces their honorable prescence by his just being there.

This event was a "Do-over" for Bush Jr. after his failed "Mission Accomplished" of over a year ago.

I can't believe you would write something like that. I really can't believe it. You call yourself a "patriot." Unbelievable.
I came to check out your site when I saw it up on the Wizbang awards. Needless to say, I am absolutely ashamed to be in your company.
To imply that we Americans are no better than terrorists who take great pleasure in chopping off heads and blowing up young children- you are clearly one sick puppy.
Get over yourself, dude. You give us all a bad name.
I'm tempted to post your thoughts on my site- but I'll just pretend that I never found this site. This place seriously makes me sick. I'd sure hate to live in your sick world...
wouldn't it have been refreshing if those troops suddenly attacked preznit stuttering moron and beat the crap out of him? just a thought.

Hey Slick I think you're the guy overreacting here. I don't think Jo is talking about the hard-core terrorist groups that are kidnapping noncombatants, but rather that if there was an occupying force of a different religion in our country, every warmblooded boy and man with a gun would be out there. Considering the militia groups that are in the Midwest, I'm not sure we wouldn't have some really sick scenes of mayhem and destruction.
And let's be serious, many cases of American operations in Iraq have not been entirely "precise" as to impacting noncombatants or insurgents. It's an ugly, ugly business, and here we have Prez Chimp going on about "you guys are going to be stuck in Iraq until we get enough honest Iraqis trained and in place." Rumsfeld says, with luck, that MAY be in 2008. Good God, four more years of losing more than an hundred men a month? And for what?
I understood Afghanistan, and so did the rest of the modern world. Hard to say we are doing the right thing or using the right tactics in Iraq. If we had a serious troop levels there and coalition support, it would be winnable. Right now it's a quamire.
Fun fact. In 1965 we had more than 180,000 troops in Viet Nam. In 1965 we suffered more than 1850 dead. Are you seeing a pattern here yet?
Jo,
Slick my ass! Since when has the U.S. shown any remorse for the horrific acts of death and destruction they supported during the Vietnam Conflict? Instead, what we get from our "leaders" are inflammatory remarks against true war heroes and "codes of silence" imposed on anyone who attempts to speak out against their abhorrent policies.
Trust me; "slick" was never witness to the "free-fire" zone murders that took the lives of innocent men, women and children in the 1960's and 1970's. The poor souls now being assassinated by terrorists in the name of religious fundamentalism can thank the Repugnant Nazi Coalition for instituting this type of warfare.

Bush definitely ought to be ashamed, that cowardly bastard. Did you know the pilot who landed him on the USS Lincoln for the "Mission Accomplished" photo op is dead? And Bush refused to leave Texas for combat duty as a flyer. See the letter published in the Indiana Gazette of 9/5/2004 from one of pilot's friends.

Well, the first major crack in the Establishment may have appeared -- today's front page of that well-known commie rag the Wall Street Journal has a long story part of which deals with the fact that it just may registering on the cortex of Donald "Failure Is Its Own Reward" Rumsfeld that perhaps All Is Not Well in Iraq and that that Not Wellness may have implications for future conflicts.
If nothing else, bad message discipline by Karl, having Dear Leader at Pendleton one day babbling on about the War on Terrrr and The Donald in the WSJ the very next day hinting that maybe, just maybe, mistakes have been made -- apparently the quickly emerging reality of just what a moral, military and geopolitical disaster Iraq has become can put even Karl off his game.
As for 2Slick: yeah, whatever. Sounds like a typical Lifer being true to the Lifer code: Cooperate and Graduate.

A quick follow up to the above -- perhaps reality's ugly head being raised in The Donald's face took the form of the following question he was asked yesterday by troops in Iraq -- per the story, an Army Reserve Spec 4 asked:
"'Why do we soldiers have to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass to uparmor our vehicles?' Wilson asked. A big cheer arose from the approximately 2,300 soldiers in the cavernous hangar who assembled to see and hear the secretary of defense."
There is a special place in Hell reserved for The Donald where one day he will be able to ponder the answer to this and other questions at his leisure.

Here's a good article that strikes closer to your subject, Jo.
George Bush talking about responsibility and duty? What a fucking joke. And yeah, if the Chinese invaded us we would act the same way the Iraqis are acting. That is, fight back.

I don't think the Marines believe any of that "Mission Accomplished" crap because the 1st MEU was in Iraq both during and after that photo op and are back there again now. Nothing changed for them...nothing at all.
My Marine was in Iraq when the Mission Accomplished photo op occured. Using sarcasm, I told him he could come home now since the war was over. He said something like "Yea sure, watch we will be here for another decade at least."
CRIMES OF THE RIGHT, the new explosive tell-all book by the best-selling author HOPE NEWMAN, hits the market with a bang!
This book unravels the truth behind the CIA, the BUSH/CHENEY, and Tony Blair cover ups. The most devastating terrorist act in history was not the 9-11, it was the rigged voting of million of ballots behind the scene. I heard the White House nearly prohibited the book’s publication. The author had to go to court to release it.
I think we should all buy a copy of the CRIMES OF THE RIGHT. This will send a message that they can rig our votes, but they can't silence us. CRIMES OF THE RIGHT, hard cover ISBN is: 0595665748. I bought my copy at barnesandnobel.com. You can also find it at amazon.com. Please help spread the word.

Your comments are totally out of line. Your attacks are juvenile, pathetic, and obscene. Are you that bitter about losing that you have to resort to name calling?
It is sad that in America, while my organization is pushing for positive discussion in politics, that there are sites like yours that are, if they are anything, moving tributes to third grade logic.
On a personal note, please visit the home of my organization Republicans and Democrats for Positive and Issue Oriented Politics (http://www.rdpiop.com). We have launched our Revolution ’06 campaign, so please feel free to visit, sign up, read stories, from 150 newspapers daily, and correspond on our blog as well.
For some people, I gotta wonder what reality they live in. It's certainly not the one where reality is what it is.
In other news, I've got a alpha site up that needs visitors in order to work out the bugs. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. click on homepage. Send me email if you have any problems.
I'm disgusted by this preznit's continual posturing as a military guy. First time in history that this country's had a president that wanted to play soldier. Now they want to raise $40 mil for an inauguration that will "honor the brave military". Puke!

this is for Smalley...
"Small" minded Repugnant Nazi Confederates shouldn't attempt to "Comment on Positive and Issue Oriented Politics" unless they, themselves, support the party that encourages intelligent and thoughtful policies. Your "preznit" and his band of thugs do more to corrupt our Democracy and mis-represent the "will" of the People than anything you could possibly glean from the posts on this blog. In the words of your phallic head VP, "Go Fu_k yourself!"
Keep in mind, there are nearly 300,000,000 people living in this country. The smattering of assholes that now pray to Dubya's war mongering version of THE CHRIST, do NOT speak for all U.S. Citizens. The vast majority of "we the people" DID NOT VOTE FOR BUSH!

Boarder- minus vote machines that siphon a huge percentage of about 10-20% of the vote the repubs poll in the 30%-40% range...
Hell my state all Dems took major office somehow Bush still won? ES&S punchcard counting algrhytmns are the only explanation.
Hell you know why it rained when Clinton opened his trailer-sih Library Bridge too far? Bush vermin showed up so the skies cried.
Bush- a sixth of America(with help from Diebold) agrees. Dems fighting for some of that sixth to match thei proporiton instead of reacing the other Americans with their agenda.
Run for repub platform to court their votes- a major turnoff brought to you by Terry 'trifecta' McAwful.
The DLC had a FUTURE OF THE PARTY CSpan live simulcast that was pathetic. nop telling how much they shelled out to staff, broadcast it. And right after tavis Smiley and Novak appearend on Washington Journal.
All of the DLC were sad white faces. Albino raisin prunes with more wrinkles than brain folds who sputed GOP talking points. No Women. No Minorities.
I wanna hear Menendez ask gonzales a queation in his fluent Spanish at confirmation hearings. I wanna see and hear Ms.Pelosi, Hillary, and Mikluski(Maryland D) along with Blanche Lincoln Lambert discuss the largest voting block's issues. I want to hear Congrssional black Cauacus members and Barack Obama in particular grill that chump on procedure and law. His minority rights exemptions to torture interpretations and how it should precedent his recusal from hearing any issues involving vote fraud, political imprisonment, and his Enron days with Vincent &Elkins are all issues of merit.
Try these fucks like McCarthy was. Before the entire country on the floor of Congress! To the point no persons will stand by them for their tresspass of Constitution!
Trader I'm gonna bookmark that and shortcut it. Hope it's not in the memory hole already.
46, Madsen is soemthing else. Senthim an idea and he comes out with a thread along the same lines and turns out Bush's bro's sec died the week before. Killing off the help to hide the trail.
Also the Rumsfeld thing shows he's running it, and Bush dare not interfere. Rummy avoids going at any Cheney statements. They appear together equal distance behind AWOL at times to show they respect each other's access to the CHimp's puppet hole...
Final note- J. those proportions and the current ones, projected over the upgrade of troop levels, looks like hell. My Nephew hates to even watch much TV for seeing any of that crap on the news after being there. Too close for comfort. Bush fuzzy math, J's projected increase equals more hurt for troops.
OT but not OT- the Pantera guitarist was shot by a formine Marine, a disturbed, discharged man who was a fan of the band and blamed him for a seperation of members to side projects. They(military) make this guy crack then leave him to his own ends. No help, just send him home and let his family deal with it. Had he not shot a band who really looks to fans as family and some other fans he might have done such with his own. Another soldier left behind when his usefulness was up to the gov't.
And the band played on...
