Well, since I could not blog much, it seems that the Hairy Thunderer has graciously allowed me to do a little blogging today. See, I'm iced in, and I mean in. So when it comes to blogging or trying to run the snow-blower, well, here I am. On the plus side, we have not lost power (yet) and the office is sort of closed because they are asking folks to refrain from non-emergency travel.
Unfortunately, someone else of the spousal persuasion may soon have different ideas. Pictures later, perhaps.

Well, since you're here and this seems like the place to do it, I need to rant a little.
I don't know about you guys but I imagine you all feel the same way I do. As an Army Brat and a Navy veteran, I get extremely pissed and offended whenever I see that fucking Chickenhawk, fake tough guy wearing pieces of military gear. My wife can't stand me anymore,I yell so loud she flees to another room if she can't get to the remote quick enough to change channels when he shows up on tv surrounded by men of more character and dignity and courage than he'll ever possess. Men actually serving their country in uniform. Thank you, that is all.

And one other thing. When LBJ started the Vietnamese war on a lie at least he stuck to it. Could you imagine him saying the "Vietnamese were ingaged in Gulf of Tonkin program related activities?".
(I either just thought of that or heard it somewhere).

I'm with you brother. It pisses me off too when I see this chickenshit coward strutting around like top gun. But then you got to remember, even in the 70s they have pictures of Commander Codpiece wearing ribbons he didn't earn.

I remember, as a high school student, sitting around with grunts (my brother, for one) fresh from Vietnam talking about the war. They really had it in for the guys who ducked Vietnam by getting their arse safely planted in the National Guard. Then one of those who avoided service in Vietnam by this route (Dan Quayle) needs the image changed, and off we send the Guard into actual battle (Desert Storm), and magically by default, the service of other Guardsmen from that era becomes a noble calling. Now even some of the vets think that Kerry's service in Vietnam was only a selfish attempt to pad a future political career, while GW's service was honorable (ya' think that an honorable discharge could have been politically corrected?). It is nice knowing that, after having retired from the AF via first serving as a tanker and grunt, that GW's service (or no service by the other chickenhawks) is as highly regarded.
Hey Jo and Crew, keep the faith. The chickenhawks and their mommies and daddies and grandmas and grandpas all piss me off when I see brave men dying for Bush's insane adventure.
I'm going to write a humdinger of a letter to the editor of our local paper about "Republicans must answer the call to duty" and explain why all the little fuckups have to go to the Marine and Army enlistment offices ASAP. I'd welcome sarcastic ideas and good punchy material from real veterans (I'm a Viet Nam vet.) I live in a TN country that voted 70% for Bush.
I'm going to make New Year bright for somebody, trust me! Best regards for 2005, and thanks for keeping up your site.

Peace and good will to humanity.
Merry Christmas, Jo!
On a bright note, Donald Rumsfeld is making Robert McNamara look more and more competent every day. I figure they'll have to dig a new, lower level in Hell for this group of screw-ups.
I have a little vision
of the world.
It isn't much.
But in it, beauty shines
whenever earth
and people touch.
There's laughter,
and there's music,
and the trees
are standing tall,
and the creatures
whisper stories
of the One
who made us all.
And no one's lost
or hungry,
every life's
of equal worth,
and the angels
scatter snowflakes
like a dream of
peace on earth.
I went to Christmas Eve services at my home church, where my pastor preached on the crusade to save "Merry Christmas." She thinks it's silly. Christians shouldn't ask government or department stores to tell our story for us.
And yeah, the pastor at my home church is a woman.
