Res Ipsa Loquitur

Anyone now doubt who owns the 1600 Crew, lock stock and cock?

And corporations would be allowed to immediately deduct -- or "expense" -- from their taxes a portion of the cost of business investments, instead of having to slowly write off those costs based on complex depreciation allowances.

To cover the cost of the tax changes, the plan would tax the value of an employee's health insurance benefit as if it were income. "Most Social Security benefits" would also be taxed as income, the report says. Finally, the plan eliminates the itemized deduction for state and local tax payments.

The Rich will get Richer, and everyone is on the hook for the best legislator they can buy to protect their own self-interest(s). Welcome to the New American Ownership Century. Hey, catchy name...let's name a project after it.

Comments:

I almost look forward to Bush submitting this proposal. If we can't bash him and the Repubs on something like this, that raises taxes unnecessarily on millions of Americans, we can't bash him on anything.

With corporations getting major tax breaks don't expect to see much of this on the Good Puppy media. (That would include the world's worst newspaper, the NY Times.)

And don't expect any Dems brave enough to complain about this to get much media exposure, either.

"The rich get richer and the poor get poorer ...." This is a line from a song about having fun. See Martin J. McMahon, Jr.'s article on SSRN (sorry I don't have the link) titled "The Matthew Effect and Federal Taxation" supporting the progressive tax. The "Matthew Effect" is based upon the following from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25, verse 29: "For whomsoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance; But whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath." The article runs some 143 pages but it provides more than adequate proof of the wisdom of progressive taxation. Perhaps this is the source of the compassionate conservatism of our President who pulled himself up by his own bootstraps NOT!

They are also proposing eliminating the state income tax deduction (as a recent immigrant to New York - OUCH!!!) and the home mortgage interest deduction (as a soon to be purchaser of overpriced New York apartment - DOUBLE OUCH!!!).

I hope they try it.

I predict mindless evisceration by hordes of former Bush supporters would ensue.

Fun times.

Without doubt, middle class Americans who voted for this carpetbagger of a President will be feeling the pinch when the shit hits the fan!
