via Bartcop. Help a soldier. Today. Here's a website started to help get supplies to our troops. Never mind the budget-busting borrowing that Preznit Corporate Whore is proposing to send more money to the coffers of CheneyBurton, here's a chance to send money where it's going to do some good: AnySoldier.com
From Bartcop:
Are you aware they need food? On anysoldier.com there are requests for some food.
There is a captain currently requesting Listerine as many are sick and they want to avoid
others getting sick and rubber gloves to help stop spreading the sore throat and sickness.
They said the food in mess is so riddled with bacteria they are trying to avoid it (thank you very much Halliburton).
Women soldiers have no Tampax or similar products for their periods. The water problem is a serious problem.
And this waste of human flesh president dances the night away wasting money that could help our troops.
I am so angry I am shaking.
They are asking that we send them microwavable items as they are trying to avoid mess food since it's contaminated.
Also if they are in the field and miss meals it's too bad.
They also need transformers as the power is 220 and they have 110 voltage items.
If you go to anysoldier.com you will see requests. It is so unbelievable. Someone has to do something.
We are sending top ramen as this was requested and Tampax to the women.
We also sent some Easy Mac. We aren't well off but send what we can when we can.
Dammit this president is so evil. So GD evil!!!!
Join me in dropping in a buck or ten, and shame your SUV-driving, magnetic-ribbon wearing neighbors and co-workers into doing the same. Especially if they have a "W04" sticker on their car.
Try mentioning it to a Pub. They come back with some ignorant crack about John Kerry and ignore what you told them. I finally got so fed up with my f i l that I asked him if he was fucking with me or if he were really that goddamned stupid. It actually shut him up, I'm still stunned.

What bullshit this is. The soldiers have these items and if you were a "veteran" you would know that they have these items. Sometimes the supply lines take time to catch up...but any soldier worth a damn understands this. The soldiers in Albania had so few supplies (that was a logistics disaster by the army) and yet no complaints during the Kosovo war? I really dont think you served a day...or at least in any real unit or you would not post this.

Just so you know, in the Army 19 years, 3 commbat patches and peacekeepng under this belt....What bullshit this post is. The soldiers have these items and if you were a "veteran" you would know that they have these items. Sometimes the supply lines take time to catch up...but any soldier worth a damn understands this (it is a combat zone after all).

Joe -
I don't know what a "real" unit is. I'm pretty sure that all the ships I was on were real (IKE/JFK/Midway). I'm pretty sure that the Class "A" mishaps I had to do JAG investigations on were "real".
I was not in the Army, so I can't speak to how their supply system works.
I somehow managed to get myself deployed ...alot... on various haze gray floating hotels, and do remember that occaisionally the little things (meaning "comforts of home" shit) ran out. Like during that real short Northern IO deployment after the hostages in Iran were seized. We ran out of almost everything except another day at sea.
Yeah, our uncle was fantabulous at providing most stuff (except for that time we went NFFE (not mission-ready/EQUIPMENT) for a fucking aircraft engine that was in re-work).
You obviously have a different point of view about what these soldiers are asking for. The website is for real, the soldiers are for real and unfortunately, the mess in Mesopotamia where they are stuck is real.
I'll take you at your word that you've got 19 years and all. I guess you'll just have to take me at mine...
I'm retired military, which includes time as an M-60 tanker (11E) and as an infantryman (11B). I see Joe says he has 3 combat patches (which even rear echelon types can get) but no CIB. I always thought the women bought their feminine hygiene supplies from AAFES. The supply line takes time to catch up? HOW LONG... 3 YEARS!!!!! Sounds like a mess to me.
Joe is one of those ignorant bastards I was talking about. I'm sure as a REMF he never ran out of tampax.

Well, being a computer jockey and all I never had supply problems of this nature (although we frequently were running out of supplies like cabling and the like). So I'll have to turn to my Stepfather ont his one, who served in Vietnam. According to him, this sort of shit happeend all the time. And yes, he really is a genuine combat veteran, not that 'Joe' here seems to respoect any veteran with views contrary to his own.

This is great. I came here hoping to see if anyone knew of any SPECIFICALLY ANTI-BUSH-PRO-TROOPS sites we could throw our weight behind- by we, I mean my group blog , where we've been considering linking to a similar, Rush Limbaugh-endorsed group.
Seriously....if this group is for real, I'll disseminate it among my anti-war/veteran/blogger friends.
And I'm in.
Umm, Joe. The mission to Kosovo is in "Kosovo" not in Albania. There are Albanians there but there are also Albanians in Southern Italy, but that is not Albania.
Supply Lines: So they can have an officer's club like something out of Vegas the green zone and you are claiming that "supply lines" take time to catch up? My best friend from college (thrice wounded in Iraq) is currently in Baquba. He tells me he can't even get powder to stop the scabies infestation that is eating his company alive. Scabies! But you know that's the price of freedom. Crotch rot.
