What's wrong with this picture?

Am I missing something here?

The shy family doctor who became the leading candidate for prime minister Tuesday says ending the nation's rampant violence is his top priority and that U.S. troops would remain as long as they are needed to achieve that goal.
...
"Islam should be the official religion of the country, and one of the main sources for legislation, along with other sources that do not harm Muslim sensibilities," said al-Jaafari, who currently serves as Iraq's interim vice president and was living in London until Saddam's regime was overthrown.

He said he supports women's rights, including the right to be the president or prime minister, as well as self-determination and individual freedoms for all Iraqis.

The interview took place in the office of al-Jaafari's home in the U.S.-guarded Green Zone in central Baghdad.

All safe things to tell reporters while ensconced in your quarters in the Green Zone, I'd venture to say.

The Irani mullahs have a more than vested interest in this process, something that they have made clear. There's nothing that would make them happier than their border being secured by a friendly, Shiite-controlled state.

If the US troops leave abruptly now or in the near future, it will make the fall of Saigon look like an excercise in evacuation procedures. This clown will be back to practicing family medicine in Lower Bowel, Mississippi under a new name, and we'll be dealing with a huge new country learning how to chant "Death to America" under the watchful eyes of their religious Gestapo.

Nice going, Preznit Yellow Stripe. Yet another venture you've managed to louse up like all that have gone before it. Have the Lump fix you another Bourbon and Branch, yer the preznit, no one can tell you what to do.

Comments:

They want someone in power and they will probably get it. The removal of Saddam couldn't have come at a better time for Iran.

I foresee a lot of these Middle Eastern countries starting to band together in order to increase their strength.

i.e. today with Iran and Syria

We could be getting closer to the The Project for the New American Century (my tid bits on it) coming to fruit.

I hope not.

And to think, 20 years I was in the Persian Gulf escorting Iraqi oil tankers through the Straits protecting them from Iran.It looks like Iran finally won.

Not only that, Chalabi has triangulated countries with warrants for his arrest due to embezzlement.

Lebanon erupted, where Chalabi and Bin Laden got their start as bankrollers and construction magnates.

Syria had it in for Chalabi and now the USA is starting sacntions to starve them to third world status.

Lebanon is flypaper to distract Israel's Palestenian final solution. Bush's Iraq failure takes back seat.
Ahmed develops a buffer zone, playing Israel and Iran against one another like he's always done. He has people and contacts in both lands.

He can make things rough at election time, using his leverage as extortion tool for more USA tax money.

If he gets a port in Lebanon he'll become an EU/NATO wedge. Meanwhile he buys time for his Iran sympathies, and wedges Condie's failed proliferation efforts into a dark cloud.

PNAC doesn't care, they are along for the ride and can make Condie the scapegoat. Syria-Lebanon will allow more terra rumor cookups and justify Israel-US premption.

Bush's John Wayne movie, True Grit becomes True Shit.

Scoop Jackson's archives being sequestered, Condie was of that mindset, wrong about Russia on implosion, wrong about proliferation. She is igniting terror while doing so, every time she makes a statement abroad some new gaffe makes waves.

A veritable tsunami in her own right.

The possibility of Iraq becoming a radical Islamic state like Iran has bothered me from the beginning. However, there seems to be a consensus that this won't happen, for a variety of reasons. One can hope.

Negroponte killed enough moderates to insure it- his entire Job was to make sure no SUnnis endrsed a moderate.

On to NID and Bush's morning cheerios and terra warnings...
