Oh, Harry...

Why is Harry Reid surprised?

"Last week, I met with the president and was encouraged when he told me he would not become involved in Republican efforts to break the Senate rules," Reid said in a statement. "Now it appears he was not being honest, and that the White House is encouraging this raw abuse of power." Reid said his exchange with Bush took place at a regularly scheduled breakfast with congressional leaders.
The 1600 Crew is intent on trying to pay back the Christo-Fascists to get them out of their faces. What they don't seem to have figured out yet is that the C-F's are not going to go away either quickly or quietly. They smell blood in the water, and are looking for a larger meal.

If the filibuster goes, so does I suspect the concept of "Unanimous Consent". Legislation in the Senate will die the death of a thousand cuts from the death of the filibuster forward. And the republicans need only remember one thing: they will not be in the majority forever. They might not even be in the majority after 2006, and they will rue the day they did away with the filibuster. Big time.

As many kudos and nice things have been said about Harry Reid (and I'm sure he deserves most, if not all of them), why does he not yet understand that Preznit Pathological Prevaricator can tell the truth no more than he can predict winning lottery numbers? Yo, Harry. Wake up.

Comments:

W has enough money and power that he doesn't need lottery tickets or the truth. Never needed them, never will. But I guess people like Harry Reid (well, me too) need to assume that there is a kernel of decency in everyone, just in order to make it through the day and to have a point of reference for trying to communicate or at least make contact of some sort with the rest of humanity. But with W there is no point of reference. That's what makes fighting him so hard.

Hmm... When I first read that, I thought Harry was being sarcastic. Maybe it's just me, but that's the vibe I've been picking up from the guy in his various tv appearances.

"...But I guess people like Harry Reid (well, me too) need to assume that there is a kernel of decency in everyone..."

Then you are destined to be greatly disppointed for there is not one shred of decency in all of the ERWBDC gang.

That's Extreme Right Wing Brain Dead Conservatives.

I think he knew, and the press knows too that they lie all the time. Harry just made sure it was pointed out publicly and that Bush had given his "word" - which is worthless as we all know.

I hope he was being sarcastic.
If he actually expects the coward Bush to tell the truth, the Democrats are fucked.

Reid knows Bush is a liar and knows not to believe anything he says. He is also pushing to rally the Senate Dems and really lead the fight. In fact, he has been starting the fight and I believe he is taking the right actions to set the agenda and take it from the Republicans. I think he's heard the steady cries of Democratic supporters who have been calling for the Dems to say what they are in favor of and make that the topic of discussion.

The one to watch out for on the Dem side is Biden. I'm no longer trusting him one little bit.

Right--Trust Biden as a DEM? Uh. Uh. Nope.
