Heartbreak

Thanks, Nina for this. From comments:

"Dear George,

You don’t mind if I call you George do you? When you sent me a letter offering your condolences on the death of my son, Spc. Casey Austin Sheehan, in the illegal and unjust war on Iraq, you called me Cindy, so I naturally assume we are on a first name basis...George, it has been seven months today since your reckless and wanton foreign policies killed my son, my big boy, my hero, my best-friend: Casey. All of this lying, fooling, and betraying must be “hard work” George. You really think you know what hard work is?...George, let me tell you what “hard work” really is...Hard work is seeing your oldest son, your brave and honorable man-child go off to a war that had, and still has, no basis in reality. Hard work is worrying yourself gray and not being able to sleep for 2 weeks because you don’t know if your child is safe...Hard work is seeing your son’s murder on CNN one Sunday evening while you’re enjoying the last supper you’ll ever truly enjoy again...Hard work is having three military officers come to your house a few hours later to confirm the aforementioned murder of your son…your first born…your kind and gentle sweet baby..."

Read the letter here.

My guess? The Korner Kids and Powerslime would say SPC Sheehan's mom was being out of line for her letter because after all, Preznit'n is Hard Work. Fuck 'em and the Keyboards they make their lucre with.

Tough letter for Mother's Day. Gee, what are Jenna and Not Jenna doing when not hung-over?

Comments:

You know the background buzz of anger in my brain is completely drowned when I read the personal stories. I really hate the people running my government.

Of course, Prince Harry is about to plant his butt in a rock hard rack at Sandhurst for a year, following in the path of his family.

His Gran drove an ambulance in WWII as London was being bombed, and his uncle Andrew flew choppers off a ship in the Falklands War.

Unlike the Windsors, Bushes can't be bothered. They follow the lead of Paris Hilton.

The wimp sent the woman a machine signed letter and never bothers to go across the river to Arlington to see what his actions cost.

Thank you, Jo Fish, for posting Cindy Sheehan's letter to the preznit on the front page. Cindy has also provided some links for military families whose lives have been forever changed by Beloved Leader's need to be called a "war time preznit". Bryan, I think there are way too many Chickenhawks here with too much time on their hands. Notice how empty Jo's Conservative Pundit Hall of Fame is still looking...

How terribly sad. What can President Horse Fluffer's minions say? That Mrs Sheehan hates freedom? No, they'll blather on about how her son gave his life for freedom and they can't dishonor his sacrifice by saving anyone else's life. Then they'll go have some drinks and pocket some kickback money and feel very good about themselves. Because that is what they do and it won't change.

What kind of citizenry allows a draft-dodging deserter to be commander-in-chief? Posterity will not treat us very kindly. All this typing is acheiving nothing.

Edited by me. JF.

"No, they'll blather on about how her son gave his life for freedom and they can't dishonor his sacrifice by saving anyone else's life."

Exactly. My ex-pastor gave a passionate sermon about abortion just before Reinstall Bush Day, telling us that God would zap anybody who didn't vote pro-life (and we all know how our Golden Warrior Prince values life). My pastor has never done more than utter token clucks of sorrow over the glorious war in Iraq, because he thinks it's a just and moral cause. And that's why he's my ex-pastor.

What I said turned out to be wrong. What President Horse Fluffer and his co-conspirators have said is nothing. Ignore it and it doesn't exist. And it is still very sad.
