It's an amazing thing how some republicans never seem to fade away, sort like a the memory of a bad meal, or a an ex who's a stalker. Newtie is no execption...he's trying to position himself to be the "go to guy" for the republicans as they try and dominate politics and continue their drive to dismantle the republic for their own profit.
Former House speaker Newt Gingrich gave a PowerPoint presentation to an enthusiastic group of Republican staffers at the Capitol last week that he billed as a blueprint for turning the party's "present, temporary partisan majority" into a "21st century governing majority." Gingrich's handouts also provide an early peek at how he might pursue the Republican nomination for president.

"Speed, cleverness and shallowness are advantages for the Left," Gingrich, who stayed around to field a flurry of admiring questions, asserted on page 58 of his presentation. "They dominate the elite news media so they will always be able to launch new attacks, have their allies in the bureaucracy create new leaks and focus on analysis that hides their values."
Liberal elite media, like the Washington Post? Unh hunh.
"Our core pattern should be 'there is a BIG difference and it is a fact. . . .' We must then take such key facts to immediately illustrate a large vision; we cannot remain in arguments at the detail level."
Translation: the Big Lie works remarkably well; don't let facts get into any conversation or we are doomed! Facts are inconvenient things to be classified whenever possible and ignored when that's not an option.
So, bottom line: same republican strategy, just a different messenger. Once a liar, always a liar. And as for Newt for President? I think he forgets he had higher negatives than the Big Dog during impeachment...hey how about a Cheney/Gingrich ticket? Two draft-dodging Chickenhawk assholes for he price of one?

No thanks, we've had that for some 5 years now and it ain't working.
How about some veterans running for local and national office in 2006? The rovian hordes can go after an isolated Cleland or a Kerry or a Clark or McCain, but if across the US there were veterans who were running on a common theme--that war is hell and should be entered into with caution and respect--then the hordes couldn't tear them down by questioning the patriotism, sanity, medals, children of each and every veteran. The rovian hordes would have to talk about issues like health care, living wages and employment, education, meaningful national and international security... And the rovian hordes don't know anything about any of those issues. The clarion call...

Newt Gingrich will regret running for office. When he shut down the government during Cliton's term it included funds to run the VA and I personally saw the morgues run over from it. Poor vets who had no other way in undermanned wings many of them already having to go long waiting lists.
The pathology experts there were all Nam era veterans. Talking with a brotha who was mentioning having been a teenager, leave at Saigon, and being deployed in the field. Guys who risked it all to keep these folks alive when the deal went down and they come home and see the light bill go bad and the night shift not cover payroll to keep the same people alive, and many world war and korea vets even more so.
When asked if this was happening everywhere, as in across the board, their supervisor said they called the locations with which they did the most work and it was happening everywhere. You could once compare the rates but the current administration closed so many facilities down that they hid the results of the spiked mortality rates.
To the point they had to change procedure so these kind of appropriations can even occur during filibuster. Gingrich set that precedent. Unprecedented Hubris.
Ohhhh, reps are against the filibuster unless it can help initiate an economic slowdown and ruin the service industry's public sector as background for a slander campaign on a second term President.
We remember you Newt. Run your race you cocksucker because we will remind Americans about the collateral damage your greed caused for ours who served, at home in peacetime as part of your domestic policy.
