Opera for free. Don't know how long this will last, but you can go here and get a registration code for Opera just by clicking on the "Go Free Now" button, entering an email address. Then download and install...it's the "paid" version with none of the pop-ups or ads (just like the purchased version).

You sound like a typical Republican free-luncher! We pay-as-we-go Democrats have been using and paying for Opera since version 3, plus the Linux version whenever it first came out!
Just kidding - I'm a long-time reader of your blog. The price of Opera is not really bad. After your first purchase, upgrades and additional registrations for other platforms (e.g., Linux) are half-price (IIRC); furthermore, you only need to upgrade your registration every two version numbers.
