Not just NO!

So some folks are saying that Preznit Eternal Vacation should be able to use the after-effects of Katrina to boost his approval ratings:

"He's moving from complicated questions that are in many ways beyond his reach to matters that really are within his reach,'' Hess said. "This is an area, at least in the short term, in which a president can gain approval and maybe that gives him a little more wiggle room with the rest of his agenda.''
Yeah, except the relentless underfunding of FEMA, the Corps of Engineers and the 1600 Crew dedication to the failed War of Choice and Tax Cuts are as policy matters considerably involved in the magnitude of the disaster.

The 1600 Crew is desperately looking for a 'bye' on this...they have been caught with their dicks waving in the breeze as Beloved Leader vacationed and sought to pillage the economy further by destroying Social Security.

So they want to make nice? "We shouldn't be playing politics with this disaster?". Yeah, didn't we all hear that on 9/12 and beyond? The only way to remind people of the failures of this adminstration is to keep bringing them up, time after time after time...how much different might it have been if 25% of what just got given to the oil companies in that abortion of an 'energy bill' had gone to the Corps of Engineers a couple of years ago to continue their on-going work on the levees in New Orleans? We'll never know, because instead of being proactive on behalf of our country, we were wasting the money over in Iraq and now we get to react to yet more bad policy decisions by the folks who brought you nothing but fear itself.

Not just NO, but Fuck NO. No free pass.

Comments:

"Don't politicize this event," I think, is Republican code for "it's our fault, but let's pretend it's not." Sheesh. Here I thought the role of government was to provide for order and safety. Apparently, the role of government is to cut taxes.

"Wonkette" is reporting that the Current Administration robbed the CoE account for New Orleans levee construction to help pay for the Iraq adventure. Also noted is Bush's trip to the area tomorrow. The thought of a presidential entourage surrounded by the Secret Service shoving people out of their way is certainly encouraging. Betcha they won't go to the Superdome.

If this total fubar doesn't finally destroy the repub party, coupled with the Iraq fiasco, then we dems don't deserve to regain power.
Who will the country, and the world, believe: george II, or their own lying eyes and ears?
3 days late with meaningful aid to thousands - yet $70+ a barrel for oil is a-ok. What the hell kind of federal government do we have, folks?
I am absolutely disgusted with georgy the moral "christian", and with every single one of his enablers - and that includes the partisan fools at Faux "News".
Why, in the name of decency, aren't our dem "leaders" howling with righteous rage right now? Where the hell is our leadership?

And it's deja vu all over again. Dear Leader cut back staffing for the Army Corps of Engineers along with funding for projects like reinfocing or rebuilding levees in NOLA. And where are the National Guard? Well the roughly 40% staff available in the US will be sent south to clear the way for Bunnypants's visit to "assess the damages". Gad.

Pray that they travel to the Superdome.

Damn straight. I'm mad as hell about this. When's the next Bubble Boy fuck-up? It's become more than obvious that Busbble Boy is indeed as we all knew years ago, a "miserable failure".

Over and above all else is the need for the country to fix this problem. Bush can't do it, he just doesn't have what it takes. Also remember that his party is the antiscience party. They ignored geologists warnings about the natural geologic processes at work in the Delta... namely that as the Mississippi slows down, all the silt it carries settles. That in turn causes the ground to weigh more, resulting in lowering New Orleans, slowly but surely, below sea level (it's why there were seas covering the central plains of North America during the Cretaceous). And... they help(ed) to slowly eliminate wetlands, which are natural barriers/buffers to storms. And they have consistently ignored anything that sounds environmental, even when scientificaly based, because it just doesn't sit well with their ideology. Bush is being reactive... he should have been proactive. He should not get ANY credit now because now we don't expect a leader, but we do DEMAND that he DO HIS JOB!!!!!
