Drowning in Brooks

David Brooks, chief of right-wing twittery at the New Whore Times goes through an entire laundry list of arguments about what went wrong in New Orleans and closes with this.

...But liberals who think this disaster is going to set off a progressive revival need to explain how a comprehensive governmental failure is going to restore America's faith in big government.
Two names, one thought and I'm off to cook dinner.

James Lee Witt, Bill Clinton.

Government does not have to be a disabling bureaucracy when supplied with Actual Leadership, and not treated as a patronage machine for incompetant clods.

...and if David Brooks thinks this shows the American people that the right wing is doing a good job and needs to be reelected he needs to explain why the US has the biggest civilian body count on their watch. This isn't a case of a government well funded with the best people in place performing poorly, it's a case of looting funding to agencies to give the rich more power and putting your political cronies into positions of responsibilities that they are totally inept to handle.
