What a shame that this quote applies to more than just Born-Again Harriet Meirs (which seems to be her chief qualification, besides utter sycophancy).
I picked the best person I could find.
I think that even some of his staunchest defenders are finally starting to realize that the appelation "Bubble Boy" is too kind, by half.
Well, at least he didn't say "I didn't have sex with that woman". That we know of.
Eeew.

I was wondering, if during the 7 extra minutes of reading, "My Pet Goat", he wasn't fantasizing about Harriet Miers. She probably has some photos of Dubya in compromising postitions during his Texas Air National Guard duty that led to her nomination.
O.K., that was a horrible visual, but with Halloween approaching, I went for scary!

A more fitting quote would be "I picked the best nose I could find."
Imagine the wingnuts dismay realizing that what he really said was that all those conservative, card carrying members of the Federalist Society on the bench are of no consequence compared to a woman with no judical experience, possesing a less than stellar legal career.
Can you say used & abused?
Then again that's what happens when you support a man totally dispossessed of morality, ethics, honor and loyalty.
The last is quite stunning for The Chimperor values loyalty from subordinates above all else. Well maybe not above a toot or a drink but you get the picture.
The real story here is that, despite his so-called mandate, Bush still doesn't feel he can advocate his ideas openly. Cuts to FEMA are hidden. Social Security phase-out is done dishonestly. And he nominates ciphers to the Supreme Court.
Whatever they're winning with, it's not their ideas.

What all of you up top have said. The Texas State Lottery?
I guess if you are a loyal shrubbie you're in the lottery for all the crony positions, which ever one comes up when your name is grabbed from the shrub-bag.

It sure is amusing hearing the wingnuts complaining about "trusting Bush" on Miers, when they were the ones that said we should do exactly that on Roberts (and all those filibustered appellate judges before).
After all, GWB has done such a great job of picking top-notch appointees ("yer doin' a heck of a job, Brownie") that everyone should just politely applaud his choices, right?
Next up: Barney the First Dog gets appointed as the new director of FEMA, RW pundits get sore hands from non-stop clapping.

"I feel your pain" is to "Its hard work," as, "I didn't have sex with that woman" is to "I picked the best person I could find." Sad. Anyone wished we could have a parlimentary vote of no confidence yet?
