As we get farther down the road from the Shitstorm that was Katrina, it looks like more and more of the facts are starting to appear. Funny how that works with the 1600 Crew, isn't it? Kinda like Mess O'Potamia...lack of cogent action, toss lots of money at it, and when it's still fucked up, blame everyone else. Well, it's starting to come home to roost.
On Aug. 29, Bahamonde said, he called Brown about 7 p.m. and warned him of "massive flooding," that 20,000 people were short of food and water at the Superdome and that thousands of people were standing on roofs or balconies seeking rescue.
Brown replied only, "Thank you. I'm going to call the White House," Bahamonde said.
Upon calling the White House, Brown probably got the voice-mail menu that said "Press one if you're a Pioneer, Two if you're a Ranger and Three for all other calls...-beep-" Choice three dumped him into the garbage mail box, where all non-fundraising calls go. So Brownie hung up, and went to dinner, which was for him almost as difficult as finding New Orleans on a Map of Louisiana.
Meanwhile, Preznit Nearly Nero strummed while Americans drowned.

Oh, man. It's all just so freaking awful. And how much are we paying for it?
This bunch don't inspire much confidence. Down here in Florida we are bracing for another monster storm. The interesting thing is that once the media leaves the area so does the help. Some of our communities, Punta Gorda comes to mind, still sit in shambles after last years round of storms. So the question today is, do you feel any safer today than you did a year ago. Nope. We are absolutely on our own.

I think the phrase preznit Nearly Nero is so right (literally and figuratively, of course); remember how Nearly Nero was "strummin' the guitar" (fakely as usual) during the Katrina disaster? Hideous creature.
