For some reason, okay the Swiftboating of John Kerry and the utter disrespect shown to Max Cleland come to mind, some Democratic Senators are showing the yellow side of their eyes. They are preparing to hoist a white flag thus making the Multi-millionaire Wingnut Pundit Brigades prophecy about the confirmation of Scalito self-fulfilling.
It's time to start taking back the debate. It's time to stand up for America and filibuster this jackass. As Atrios said, it's time to drop a turd in the punchbowl that is the cesspool of the 1600 Crew.

If their legacy is the confirmation of Scalito, a known liar and crony, what's that say about their service as Senators? In two or five years will they be able to tell us they honestly did the best job they could? Or will they make half-assed lame excuses?

Absolutely pathetic. This is the cheapest attempt to hinder a professional process and you can make up as many names as you want for Alito but he's the man for the job and he'll be confirmed.

I am, I guess, proud that you came here and exercised your right to speak up about what you believe in and care about. The right to free speech and other basic freedoms guaranteed us in the Bill of Rights are absolutely worth fighting for, innit? Don't phone them. All of their voicemail boxes are jammed to the hilt right now with calls telling them to filibuster Alito. Send them a fax. I just wrote to my Senator, Lautenberg. I told him that if he voted for cloture on Alito I would be sitting shiva for him. If your Senator is Jewish, and you are Jewish, you might try mentioning that. I only mentioned it with Lautenberg because there is no way he'll run for office again, so there's no "or else" I can offer regarding campaign contributions or volunteering or whatever.
Republican Vet? You can't leave a voicemail message on the phone of any of the Democratic Senator in that posting because their mailboxes are full. So I guess people did call. Now who's the moron?

Call them again starting right away this morning. If you can't get through on the main numbers follow whatever prompts there are to talk to a staffer. They (Republicans) have to know we're serious this time. We have sat idly by for way too damn long. What's absolutely amazing me right now is the fence-sitting that's still being done by Dems. There have been other fights in the past that Dems failed to get excited enough about, but this one takes the cake. Alito's confirmation would make him a Justice for life and I, for one, cannot justify the further destruction of our civil and human rights in this country. I refuse to lay down and let Bush and his cronies walk all over me. Keep calling, emailing, and faxing. While you're doing all of that, call others to have them call too. We can and will win this fight!
