Remember that? For all the years of the North American Bunnypants Terror Alert System, it's the one phrase that the republicans most fear hearing, because it points to the beginning of their glaring incompetance at figuring out what's going on around them. Besides the ruinous tax cuts, totally fucked up medicare "reform", the endless war in Mess O'Potamia, the lacksadaisical and uncaring response to Katrina, what have the 1600 Crew done for you lately?
Hmmmm, polluted the air, caved to every lobbyist in the K-street project who wanted legislation passed, fired scientists, larded virtually every position from Customs and Immigration to FEMA with cronies. Yeah, they're pretty amazing alright.
So, last week when Hamas won the election in Palestine, the 1600 Crew and Condi the Utterly Incompetant had to go off on how they were not going to support Hamas, and how they never saw the Hamas victory coming. Sez KindaLyin Rice, right as she removes the splinters of Preznit Magnolia Prosthesis from her mouth:
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday the United States would not provide financial assistance to a Palestinian government run by Hamas, the radical Islamic group that won last week's parliamentary elections.
What the Dominatrix of Diplomacy fails to realize is that by failing to work with the Hamas leadership to help stabilize the region whether it takes aid or not, she is setting up a far more volatile situation than exists now. Her statement is idiotic on it's face...if we were so hard over on not working with regimes that are innately hostile to the US and our allies, we would not be doing any business in the People's Republic of China. None, Zero, Zilch. They are after all to use Incompetent-O-Leeza's words:
"The United States is not prepared to fund an organization that advocates the destruction of Israel, that advocates violence,"
Gee, just substitute "Taiwan" for Israel there, and see how that works out. We might not send the PRC direct US government aid, but we don't need to, we have Gi-normous American companies sending their dollars over instead. Gee. How amazing.
So, what's the downside of not paying the inevitable Piper of Palestine?
Western donors funneled about $900 million into the Palestinian Authority in 2005 _ including $400 million from the United States _ to pay salaries and finance desperately needed infrastructure projects. Failure to pay the 137,000 people on the Palestinian Authority payroll could lead to massive layoffs and ignite violence in an area bristling with guns.
Let's see, can we all remember the last time we unilaterally decided to not help out some middle-eastern folks who practiced Islam who suddenly found themselves without paychecks but oversupplied with weapons, ammo and time to use them both? No, gee, I can't either.
bin Laden Determined to Attack the US. I guess even when it's written in plain English it's too hard for those idiots to figure out. They're still out looking for rose petals and candy on the streets of Baghdad.

Comments:
CNN has an article in which al-Zawahiri "taunts" Bush. There's also a poll asking what al Qaeda is "up to": On the run, Hiding and Plotting, Ready to Strike. 65% (as of now) think al Qaeda is "Hiding and Plotting". I hope the Chimp is paying attention this time.

I don't think they are paying attention because thay think he is harmless. Look at the tunnel from mexico, a whole army of anybody could have came into this country and no one would be the wiser. Iraq and cheap labor is all that they think about.
