America the Destitute

The preznit has now officially rolled Barry Goldwater over in his grave. Personally. I guess that the insanity of eternal debt is going to be a reality soon, because the spineless congress is about to give lip-service to reforming the budget proposed by Preznit Fiscally Fucked and then pass it anyway, probably with enough "earmarks" to lard it up more than gramma's biscuits.

George W. Bush ran for office as a "compassionate conservative," arguing that Americans did not have to choose between huge tax cuts and a government that would do its part to address social needs like education and health care.

Now into his sixth year in the White House, Mr. Bush offered a budget on Monday that showed more clearly than ever the inexorable limits of that political promise.

Mr. Bush is asking Congress, first and foremost, to make his tax cuts permanent and to increase spending on national security, while looking for savings in popular domestic programs like Medicare and vocational education. The tradeoffs, to his critics, are achingly clear, and unfair.

So remember, when you are old and gray and still paying for Mess O'Potamia, reflect that once upon a time we had a chance to rid ourselves of these noxious fuckers, but some people chose party over public policy.

Try explaining that to the pharmacist as you beg for meds, or some goverment bureaucrat who will take your home just to toss you into a sub-standard, government-funded "assisted living facility". It will be ugly, but there will be no going back, because with government, once the invisible hand has writ, it's a stone bitch to erase it.

Oh, and to all my republican friends out there: You've been fucking played bitches, unless you make more than 300 large. Ha Ha. We told you so.

Comments:

Why do those who have no business voting for W and Republicans go to the polls to elect them time and again?

Is it really just an act to stamp out abortion? Or to prevent gays from getting married?

Call it the Revenge of the Mutt People, as Joe Bageant put it.

Take a kid, raise him up like a junkyard mongrel, poke him with a stick from time to time, keep him hungry, laugh and throw raw meat at him when he snaps at people. What you get is a mean, vindictive little SOB who cares more about ripping the throat out of other people than about his own welfare. You get a junkyard dog, hungry and mean. You get someone who will vote for George W. Bush because George W. Bush will rip the throat out of the middle class and make the middle class as miserable as they are, without concern over what GWB will do to them.

Because when you're born of the mutt people, you know it doesn't matter. No matter who is President, you're going to continue to get poked with that stick and kept hungry and mean. That's how it's always been, when you're born to the mutt people. And while occasional Presidents have thrown raw meat at the mutt people, such as the REA during the 1950's or Medicaid during the 1960's, people who've been pissed on for generations and for all their lives have just plain quit caring.

I was raised to be one of those mutt people, but through some accident of genetics ended up more a snapping attack poodle than a junkyard dog, so was tossed over the wall and told to go to college, where the truth about what was done to me slowly seeped into my bones as I watched and talked to people not raised like that. But like the rest of the mutt people, I haven't the slightest damned idea what to do about it, other than not to dig the hole deeper by electing twits like George W. Bush.

Beyond the Mutt People (that was a great article by the way) there is also the disturbing fact that none of us, mutt or no, can continue to trust the very vote we depend upon.

I see the coward snuck in SS "private accounts" to the budget. Like a fucking 2 year old, he is determined to get his way no matter what.

I have a question for the squids here. Was John McCain stationed on the USS 'Forest Fire'? I remember that film from Boot and fire fighting school, and someone told me that McCain was in it. Please email the answer as I forget where I post stuff.
