Hope this continues

With Preznt Neverreada Poll's numbers going down faster than meteorite passing through the stratosphere, it's getting fun to smell the flop-sweat of the GOoPer consultants and others as they begin to see how the elections in the fall might shape up.

On an issue the GOP has dominated for decades, Republicans are now locked in a tie with Democrats - 41 percent each - on the question of which party people trust to protect the country. Democrats made their biggest national security gains among young men, according to the AP-Ipsos poll, which had a 3 percentage point margin of error.

The public gives Democrats a slight edge on what party would best handle Iraq, a reversal from Election Day 2004.

"We're in an exceptionally challenging electoral environment," said Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma, a former GOP strategist. "We start off on a battlefield today that is tilted in their direction, and that's when you have to use the advantages you have."
...
Bush's approval rating is down 12 points among Republicans since a year ago. Six-in-10 Republicans said they disapproved of the GOP-led Congress.

"I'd just as soon they shut (Congress) down for a few years," said Robert Hirsch, 72, a Republican-leaning voter in Chicago. "All they do is keep passing laws and figuring out ways to spend our money."

If the national dems keep drilling those thoughts into the minds of voters, along with images of Katrina and oh, I don't know, Randy Cunningham, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay and the DHS pedophiles it might begin to sink in that this pack of jackals in Washington is doing nothing more than feeding at the public trough, and selling our country down the pike for pennies on the dollar: see Duke Cunningham's bribery menu, a boat for millions on the government dole.

Yeah, it's not going to be hard. The national Dems just need to have the stomach for this, oh, and fire every consultant from 2000 and 2004 in the DLC mold. It's time to move back to being Democrats, not republcan-lite.

It's only April. All the Republicans have to do is run commercials of Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, Cynthia McKinney and others to show the American people what would happen if the Dems regained control of Congress.

Hey, GW, you seem to think that the Republican’s can win by simply showing commercials, eh? All Democrats have to do is to show what the reality of a Republican-controlled government is right now is to run commercials of the Republican ineptitude in maintaining a budget, the quagmire in Iraq, the fucked-up response to Hurricane Katrina, the lies the Republicans told leading up to Iraq, no bid contracts with billions in bucks missing without a trace in Iraq, Cheney's Haliburton profits for Iraq and Katrina, Osama's still free after all these years, Iraq, Republican Vietnam War (chickenhawk) service records, Iraq, Mariana Island sweat shops, Iraq, Jack Abramof, Iraq, Scooter Libby, Iraq, Tom Delay, Iraq, Duke Cunnigham, Katrina, Iraq, soldier challenging Rummy on inadequate armor in Iraq, national debt, Iraq, Afganistan, Iraq, croynism, Iraq, Dubai Ports World, Powell at the UN, Iraq, the 8 Aug 01 Presidential Daily Briefing, Katrina, Iraq, Bush strutting in a flight suit, Iraq, the national debt, Bush sitting dumbfounded on 9/11, Bush lying about outing Valerie Plame Wilson, Katrina, Iraq, the rise in the cost of gasoline since Bush took office contrasted with record profits for the oil conglomerates, Republican plans for Social Security, Iraq, lies, lies, lies, lies, Katrina, Katrina, Katrina, IRAQ.... etc, etc... Someone else have fun adding to this hardly exhaustive list for Grant Wood to ponder over.

I think the Republicans will keep control of at least one house, because of the corruption and money they have.

This is the worst record of any president. Anyone take a gander at South America lately? The Administrations Talk loud and act foolish policy does not seem to be working with Chavez and others. Does not seem to be working with Iran. Does not seem to be working with Russia. Does not seem to be working with China. Does not seem to be working with Spain. Does not seem to be working with Germany. Does not seem to be working with England. Does not seem to be working with France. Does not seem to be working with Mexico...hell, just spin the globe and pick a country, ANY COUNTRY.
Once upon a time, people envied us. They actually had an emotional reaction toward you beyond pure pity. I have been traveling a lot, more and more, people I meet, just feel sorry for us.
