Stephen Colbert is an American Hero. Watch the video of his performance at the WH Correspondants Dinner. You know why the whore media was not applauding? Because he held up a mirror to their faces, and they saw what everyone else sees. That they are, for the most part, a bunch of two-bit hookers. Well, not really because that gives hookers a bad name.
Tough shit about Beloved Leader finding out that he's not loved, isn't it? I wonder how he'll feel if he's impeached and convicted, left with nothing but his radioactive aura (no republican will talk to him for the rest of his life) and daddy's millions. No secret service, no government stipend, and what will irk him eternally, no power or respect through fear and bullying.
What Colbert said about the media and Preznit were what so many of us feel...whores, liars and stenographers.

Sent a note to Comedy Central telling them to hang tough on the swiftboating that will come.
Stephen roasted amost everyone in the room. His was a shock and awe performance. I saw more sweating last night than on this week's phoney constuction work Gulf photo op.
If Kristol really helped Stephen get that gig, he is sweating bullets this morning. Trying to read W's face at the end, I read only, PAYBACK.
Colbert deserves a bravery award for his up close and personal schtick.
Only a fool goes to a roast and expects hugs insread of a hot entree.
I'm not the brightest bulb on the string, but even I know what Colbert is about. This was C-Span's highlight of the year. Too bad it got too hot for FOX and they ran for the showers before the show was over. Runner up for courage goes to Helen Thomas.
Great Job!

"I wonder how he'll feel if he's impeached and convicted..."
Impeached? Hell no! I want to see his cowardly ass in the dock at the Hague being tried as a war criminal. Cheney, Kindasleazy & Rummy, too.
Stephen Colbert has some big ass cajones. I was very impressed. I liked him before, now I'm actually beholden that, for once, someone told Bush like it is for many of us, who happened to be as American as he is.
Jo- notice the media spin on the event. They focused on the stupid Bush double bit, and down played or did not mention Colbert. No major news outlet is covering this. Only blogs. Ah, monopolization of perception, such an old and proven propaganda technique! The main steam media connot wait to get control of the internet. Once again, they will be the sole holders of the "truth".
Oh, puh-leaze! No one's covering it because his humor was (a) obvious and (b) not funny. Notice hardly anyone laughing during the performance. No one is shy about laughing at the butt of a joke during a good roast. In, this case, no laughter = not funny.

Yeah, the silence IS deafening, isn't it? Colbert shithammers the Prez, and nobody sees a story? What the Hell? When I saw this bit yesterday, I sat here, mouth literally hanging open (when I wasn't laughing), and just in awe of the sheer gall Colbert displayed. He doesn't even go that far on his own show. Think he'd run for office in 2008? Colbert for CinC!

Not funny?!?!?! Beano, you must suffer from ennui.
Scalia was laughin' his ass off! Maybe you don't know Italian sign language, but he wasn't being nice to Scalia, either.
Maybe he was thinkin' about what he and Dead Eye Dick were gonna do to Colbert during a duck hunting trip!

Hey Bean,
I don't think you liked hearing the truth any more than Our Feckless Leader did. Colbert played the role of the 'wise fool', jesting on the surface but actually telling the ugly truth to waannabe-king George in a way that even Our Feckless Leader couldn't miss. Go read King Lear and you'll see another wise fool who had a King who actually did come to understand his errors, who lost it all as a consequence of his blunders, but at least he knew why.
Gold plated, titanium wheelbarrow to carry his oversized cajones in. Absolutely priceless.
Hey bean, your whine and $2 will get you a cup of coffee somewhere at a shithole diner. Maybe git you some dry-ass Ritz-cracker mock apple pie too.
That's why your some fake-ass american - eating some fake ass apple pie. Go away bitch - you bother me.

Who is this bean freak and why is he allowed to post here? I thought we were wingnut chickenhawk free here.
Bean claims enlisted service in the USMC, and I will take him at his word. It's nice to let at least one Kool-Aid Konsumer share their thoughts, no matter if they're wrong 90-100% of the time.
Besides, it's the wingnut sites that throw us off. If you remember a couple of months agos, we had a wingnut named "Kirk" who contributed nothing and insulted everyone and who claimed/had no creditable service.
Kirk went...Bean stays, unless he becomes like Kirk, which I don't think will happen.
v/r,
Jo

Hey beano...
Check out Greg Mitchell's article on E&P about Colbert. Did you think Fearless Leader was funny two years ago with the "WMD jokes"?
Now THAT...was NOT funny. Men and women were, and are, dying because of that scenario.
Somehow, Bunnypants and the MSM found that amusing.

So it wasn't your cup of tea bean. Watching someone call out all your heroes and bitchslap every last one of them. I can live with that. Some of it was funny, some of it wasn't. What shocked me was that as close to the bone as it was, they didn't give him the hook to protect themselves from getting see with their pants down. At least Scalia had the good humor to laugh at himself.
Thing that bothers me is that little people like these like to stick you in the back later when everything has gotten quiet and regular people have forgotten about it. Hope Colbert doesn't have some sort of "accident" or get caught passed out in bed with a young girl. Probably won't but pressure might be brought to bear and his show might be let go...

For once someone other than der Fuhrer had a microphone. Bush must have been shocked out of his gourd... NO ONE TALKS TO HIM LIKE THIS! Well, maybe not at his handpicked audiences. Remember, Asshole, you don't rule us... you work for us. You'll get respect the day you earn it. Until then, counting the days... Impeach Bush now!!!
No, the consensus is that Colbert just wasn't that funny, even from people on the political Left, such as this from Noam Scheiber in the New Republic:
"My sense is that the blogosphere response is more evidence of a new Stalinist aesthetic on the left -- until recently more common on the right -- wherein the political content of a performance or work of art is actually more important than its entertainment value."
Noam Scheiber is left of what exactly? I read Scheiber's scratchings and was embarrased the guy thinks he's a Democrat. Bzzzzt, try again, Bean.
The last president who tried this crap was Nixon, and look what happened to him. We can only hope for a hat-trick. Bunnypants-Cheney-Hastert in November and beyond.
Colbert was a hoot. Much funnier than Preznit Line Sniffer "looking" for WMD's while men and women were dying for his lies. If that's humour, keep it. That shit sucks.

Sorry, guys, but you seriously misunderstand what makes someone funny. Richard Cohen puts it so well in today's WaPo.
This is the critical line: "[Colbert] was, like much of the blogosphere itself, telling like-minded people what they already know and alienating all the others. In this sense, he was a man for our times.
He also wasn't funny."
So much of the Angry Left (read those upset about the whole Colbert kerfuffle) thinks everyone else thinks the same way they do and then are amazed to find out at election time that they're a tiny minority.
