The Rude Pundit has a good piece from a day or so ago about this whole mess. Basically, he blew up all the "cut and run" bullshit from the remaining war supporters by pointing out that Reagan made a whole speech about Lebanon where he talked about how the US won't "cut and run" in Lebanon in the midst of their civil war, then a month later, he withdrew the military from Lebanon. He may have been a lot of evil things, but he could at least change course when it was an obvious mistake. Also, Caspar Weinberger was about twenty times smarter than Rumsfeld.
