Talking Points redux

In Miami today Beloved Leader is speechifying again about Lebanon. Interestingly, he's once again doing it from the cover of a US Armed Forces venue, because, I suspect that he's too cowardly to go out and face a crowd of actual Americans who might not agree with his Rove-approved talking points.

"The current crisis is part of a larger struggle between the forces of freedom and the forces of terror in the Middle East," Mr. Bush said in a speech at the Coast Guard command center in Miami.

"For decades, the status quo in the Middle East permitted tyranny and terror to thrive," the president said. "And as we saw on Sept. 11, the status quo in the Middle East led to death and destruction in the United States, and it had to change."

Oh yeah, he said 9/11 again too, which never fails to get him a political woody when nothing else will do.

It seems to me that until recently, the US was seen as an "honest broker" in the middle east, and that helped us to work with everyone towards a resolution of the thousands of years of conflicts that have raged there. I guess that Bunnypants figures that if he can find Jeeezus and quit drinking (if he really has), it ought to be a piece of cake to just shake hands and sing kumbaya in the orange groves at sunset.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Nowadays whenever Dear Leader appears in public (or in this case semi-public) I count the number of word it takes him the bring up 9/11. Never seems to take more than 50 words. I love your quote from Henry V,the St Crispin's Day speech, although I think many of the guys and gals in Afghanistan and Iraq maybe thinking of Spike's version from Buffy the Vampire slayer "We few, we happy few, We band of buggered"

It makes me sick to see what Bush (and Condi) are doing to STOP a ceasefire in Lebanon. I guess they don't mind that it also seems to draw the public's attention away from the daily carnival of car bombings and kidnappings in Iraq, never mind Afghanistan (oh, do we still have troops there?) Anyway thanks for blogging, you oftentimes say what I would like to if I were more talented or dedicated. Thanks for letting me vent.

Well, duh... like the Republicans had nothing to do with THAT little ol' problem... whatever it takes to keep the oil and oil profits flowing. God, why did we have to have these losers in power at a time like this? They turn allies into opponents, have lost the US much credibility with the rest of the world, and just are not smart enough to handle the situation. Al Queda is still running amok, the insurgency grows stronger by the hour, and he's building bases that will eventually be occupied by potential opponents. He represents us, yet acts up with stupid frat boy fool antics in front of world leaders. And on, and on, and on, and on.....
