The United States plans to help train and equip the Lebanese army so it can take control of all of the nation’s territory when warfare between Israel and Hezbollah eases, the State Department said Thursday.
The program was approved by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to take effect "once we have conditions on the ground permitting," spokesman Sean McCormack said.
Oh, wait a minute...mebbe there's more...
McCormack provided no details on what equipment the United States might provide, the training that would be conducted, how many U.S. personnel would be involved, or possible costs.
Another hollow promise from the 1600 Crew, spoken to appear "resolute" and make Peggy Noonan and K-Lo cream in their panties?
Would it be irresponsible to speculate about that?

How about Hezbollah training the Lebanese Army, because they seem to be winning their war, unlike Rummy.
Why don't we give them some anti-aircraft and anti-ship missile systems, as that seems to be their biggest weakness. I'm sure that would go over well with their neighbors.
So lets see if I've got this right. We support Israel in their slaughter of Lebanese civilians. Then once the country is in a shambles and on its knees we'll train the Lebanese to protect themselves from our allies. We really need to get our asses out of the ME, we obviously don't know what the hell we're doing.

I'm mad as hell. Republicans keep pissing off people who should be considered friends to score cheap (for them personally) points. America should have been in there saying, "Whoa, settle down and let's work to calm down everybody before more people get killed." Instead they read their Bibles and choose sides... never try diplomacy. Their policies are making a wreak of the Middle East, but when it finally is fucked up beyond repair they'll blaim liberals... even though it was THEIR decisions, THEY were in power in the US government, THEY were in charge of the planning and conduct of the policy machine, THEY who were in charge of the money, THEY who had control of the message through propaganda well funded through THIER sources (and, of course, using our tax dollars). Americans now come across as jackasses because we're represented by jackasses. Damn the bastards.
