Every year on January 1st, we start off with the hope that what's to come will be better than what's happened.
In FantasyLand errr... the 1600 Crew they are defining new ways to stretch both logic and reason into the New Year. Preznit Empty Head's toady Frances Frago Townsend made a gen-u-winely Bushly statement recently:
Five years after the Sept. 11 attacks, Osama bin Laden is still at large -- but that's not a failure of White House policy, says Frances Fragos Townsend.
HENRY: You know, going back to September 2001, the president said, dead or alive, we're going to get him. Still don't have him. I know you are saying there's successes on the war on terror, and there have been. That's a failure.
TOWNSEND: Well, I'm not sure -- it's a success that hasn't occurred yet. I don't know that I view that as a failure.
Because you know, nothing is ever the fault of this administration.
War going badly? Blame the media.
Americans not onboard with the direction of the country? Blame the Democrats.
Popularity in the dumper? Again, the media whipping-boy strawman.
Can't find Osama? Well that's a success that just hasn't occured yet.
You know, so is my winning the lottery. But at least I'll admit that's in the realm of fantasy. Right up there with having a five-way with the Swedish Bikini Team for life.
