Triangulation (sung to the tune of "Suspicion", the Terry Stafford version)
Yeah, not that cheezy Elvis "Suspicion"... Damn it all and a ham sandwich. It was just a matter of time before Hillary started on her quest (quixotic-al?) for the Oval Office.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) offered her harshest assessment to date of President Bush's Iraq war strategy yesterday, continuing her steady evolution from one of the war's staunchest supporters to one of the administration's most prominent critics.
Clinton's stepped-up criticism came as she nears an announcement of her plans for a likely 2008 presidential campaign and during a period of increased antiwar activity in the Democratic Party aimed at blocking Bush's proposal to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq.
Remember, Hillary, Queen of the DLC has steadfastly clung to her vote for the Mess O'Potamian conflict in a way that rivals Holy Joe himself. She has not been shaken from her belief of "Never give up, Never Surrender" (sorry GalaxyQuest) until now.
So what's changed? Let's be cynical for a moment and say nothing and everything. And Barak Obama. His imminent entry into the race will be the card that if played, will make Our Dear Friend DLC Clinton shudder the whole length of ther triangulating personage.
Obama will definately shake this race up. He's a contender, although relatively untried in National politics. He'd make a great number two for John Edwards, and he'd get the experience and exposure he needs for a solo run at the White House in 2016.
Hillary? Rich, white and out of ideas. She's successfully triangulated herself into a corner. I don't count her out, but I don't count on her to do much to win me over between now and next year.
