Is the current President just a more articulate version of our last, unlamented Village Idiot?

I'm not seeing anything resembling leadership from him on one of the things I am most upset about, Torture. He's caved in to every single demand (seemingly) that the republicans have put out there, and he's appointed a consummate DC insider in Panetta to run the CIA. Joy.

Is it time to put the tin-foil hats on again? Let me know, mine's still in its lead-lined box.
