Sotomayor... a major pain in the ass for the GoOPers...
Personally, I was hoping that Obama would nominate Anita Hill for the Court. That would have been some serious "Justice" in a scale of galactical proportions... and I'd have laughed my ass off.
Imagine, Ms. Justice Hill showing up on the first day of Court with a can of coke and a porno mag, and sliding into the seat next to "Sleepy" Thomas, the man who never speaks. Bet money he'd have said something.
Well, it's not going to happen. Apparently the nominee is going to be Sonia Sotomayor, a Latina jurist of some distinction, nominated to the bench first by Bunnypants Pere. I guess that the republican attack machine is gearing up to slander her. Interesting, that Orrin Hatch was the chairman of Judiciary when she was first put on the bench, and had little to nothing to say about her...but now...well, the christofascista are pulling his strings and have their collective hands up his ass moving his mouth.
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said Thursday that Judge Sonia Sotomayor's past statement that the "court of appeals is where policy is made" would be a problem for her if she were nominated for the Supreme Court.
"That's a problem," Hatch said during an interview on Fox News after being shown a clip of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals judge's comment.

Of course Hatch, like all republicans view the role of Judges to essentially rubber-stamp the desires of their corporate masters, keep people of color in their place, and to ensure that there's always a "friendly ear" for things like the Terri Schiavo fiasco or crushing civil liberties as quickly as possible when it suits their purpose.
Hatch can just shut his fucking mouth and live with Obama's pick(s). We have Scalito and Roberts to put up with, three of the most anti-civil rights and dare I say it anti-American jurists to ever occupy the bench. And Thomas, what can you say about that right-wing waste of space. He shoulda been Borked. It's about time that some balance was restored to the Court, and perhaps it's a good thing that Obama is appointing not only a distinguished jurist, but an actual attorney who has practice law outside a boardroom as a prosecutor as well as doing corporate legal work
The scumbags are going to go apeshit about all this... I suspect that the words "Judicial Activist" will be all over the talking heads airwaves over the next few weeks. We'll see....
