Oil, National Security or the "they tried to kill my daddy" riff: which is it? The news out of North Korea is hardly encouraging, and as Counterspin points out, you really have to wonder. Are the images of Gulf War I a better sell with focus groups (and oil companies) than the pictures from the Korean War with frozen corpses and Marines defending their last redoubt? With the confidence of the "house" in Vegas, I'll bet that the Chickenhawks want no part of a Korean Penninsula conflict, no oil just more body bags coming home from SE Asia...again. So much for the "Axis of Evil", it's becoming more and more obvious that it's about the oil for "Axis of Oil"; Exxon/Mobil, Texaco, Shell etc...

Found this link from CounterSpin. This has to be one race, Cleland v. "Chickenhawk" Chambliss that really pisses me off. Not only has Chambliss shown he has a yellow streak a mile wide, he proves it by making sure that no commericial which have Sen Cleland in them show that he is a triple-amputee and he has the nerve to equate the Honorable Senator with OBL and Saddam...what a mizzerable fuck Congressman Chickenhawk Chambliss is. I hope he goes down in FLAMES!

And speakiing of other interesting things, I have seen more and more coverage of Dubya's "military service", and I use the term loosely, since the debate on the war reached it's max temperature, that of a baby's bottle. In that vein, I was wondering, since W has not seem fit to release all his service records, since he is obviously embarrassed about them, how about at least sharing an unabridged copy of his DD-214 with us? If I remember correctly, at about the same time he was separating from the military pre-1974, after performing his minimal service and doing it poorly, they were still putting Separation Program Numbers/Codes (scroll down) call it what you will, on everyone's DD-214's. Mysteriously, the Pentagon web page that used to have all of the codes and their specific meanings was taken down (info from an AOL homepage) right after the Five Thieves awarded the presidency to deserter-boy...

Follow-up
All references, even on other "private" pages, to SPN/SPC/SPD codes have "disappeared". Well there's a shocker. I'm sure that W's is not wonderful...or this would not all be gone.

If anyone has a copy of the list, let me know and I'll post it...I'm sure that Al Gore will have no trouble sharing his DD-214, just like John McCain did...

So I waited a month, and got no responses of the $$ kind..makes me wonder if all the commentary about our party is correct (I was going to say right, but bit my tongue. I did get a very nice note from Pejman, who said, and I have no reason not to believe him that he has been trying to enlist since earlier this year, but keeps on getting rebuffed...well some enlisted recruiters are not always the sharpest tools in the shed...as a former Officer Recruiter and part-time EPO I can attest to that...missing opportunities is sometimes a way of life for those guys, especially the ones who really did not want to be sent to recruiting duty (more common among Officer recruiters than enlisted) in my time in Cruitcom....I escaped back to the fleet early 'cause of the pilot "shortage" in the 80's, I guess I was an over-qualified T-34B driver... Really was not unhappy to get back to the fleet either.....
